Always unlikely, made virtually impossible by the red card. But a good effort. Kept going, showed a bit of fight and spirit.
Fair few in the squad who aren‘t really good enough, but it is what it is.
As ever, we looked better for wanting to dominate the ball, and for having plenty of players in the centre. If we ever see the mental 4-2-4 again, I‘ll combust.

shame as we played well but never gunna do it with 10, silly mistake by Bernie, Khus,cherki,doku shouldn’t be going out teams would love these players! Pep cost us first match but line up would have worked tonight bar the red! Unfortunately tired legs going into Sunday, but I’d love to start that 10/11 Sunday but we won’t see it! Fantastic performance given most of the game was with 10 men.

The qualities of the players
For the system they are playing is definitely a mismatch

Proud of most of them tonight if im being honest, outplayed them most of the night with 10 men. Really liked the 3 at the back with wing backs, probably never see it again :-)

Khus man of the match, Doku also excellent. Rest played well except Silva brain fart but Dias and Haaland poor.

Played well with ten, but Madrid didn't really have to get going and just had to fend us off.

I absolutely hate that team and they are nowhere near as good as we made them look.

Poor finishing by us ensured they never had to get out of 2nd gear.

Game was lost in the first leg but the slight glimmer of hope was dimmed by the red.

Khusanov, Cherki and Doku have to be starting most games now. 3 potentially world class players there but Pep doesn't fancy any of them on a regular big game basis.
