Real Madrid (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

The pen is the punishment; it's nothing to do with scoring it or missing it
Also the offside leading up to the goal was a joke. The linesman waved his flag and then the referee got the message it was offside and raised his arm for a free kick to City, then changed his mind because of a pen
but it wasn't offside.

Dont have much time for Alexander-Arnold as a person, but he's always waxed lyrical about City. Remember him saying the 2-1 game was the best atmosphere he's ever played in and see's City as the biggest game. Enjoys coming to The Etihad. And to be fair, had the balls to leave the cult, despite knowing the shit that was coming his way.

Fair play.

Quite enjoyed that. Showed some real guile.

Real players are really dislikable. Wouldn’t normally want a player to get injured, but that V **** and M one can do one.

Out early under this new system, but further than we got in the first season of it.

Lost it away to stupid tactics, but better tonight with a balanced team.

Long-term City need to bank what if felt like tonight losing vs Real Madrid and go and put it right next season
Also, the League Cup final is now a game we must turn up and play and win and beat Arsenal

We deserve a bit of luck on sunday and we all need a win to get rid of this shit feeling

Time for some serious questions to be asked.
Donnaruma keep
Trafford Keep
Nunes Keep
Ait Nouri Jury out.
Stones time up.
Ake time up.
Dias jury out.
Kushanov start every week.
Gvardiol start every week.
Guehi keep.
Cherki start everyweek
Gonzalez he plays we very rarely lose.
Semenyo First touch absymal jury out.
Bernado time up.
Rodri if we can get decent money sell.
Doku and Savinho both not good enough.
Foden see Rodri
Marmoush not good enough.
Reijnders WTF
Erling cross the fucking ball to him or might as well sell.
O reilly Keep
Kovacic keep
Lewis sell
We have the makings of a decent side but we must get the recruitment right this summer.
We have been truly blessed over the last 18 yrs we can now either push on or fall into the pack.
We consider ourselves a big club now and what we are seeing noe is not good enough.
People keep banging on about York away and div 2 and remember how it was. That is not a valid argument anymore.
Any way the crowd proved they were elite tonight as did Kush nd Cherki.

Bottom line, that tie was over last week and we were nowhere near good enough over the 2 legs. Shout out to Khusa who was excellent I thought, and Doku & Cherki ran hard and gave it everything.

VAR though - as usual the match going fan the last to know what was going on with that Offside/not offside/VAR pen check/pen/red card.

Many in the ground didn't even realise Bernardo had been sent off until we kicked off again.

How can it be that I've paid £50 to come to the game yet I haven't got a clue what's going on for 3-4 mins, yet the armchair fan on his telly is fully in the picture. Top end footy will eat itself.

That's me bowing out of the CL scheme now. I'll pick and choose my games going forwards as I've seen us win it, and the expanded group stage is frankly a bore. Nights surrounded by tourists filming the entire game on their phones - 2 fans on the row in front tonight we're doing just that - maybe what UEFA want but it makes for a shit atmosphere in the ground as so many match going Blues seemingly don't bother with it.

On to Sunday and the vain hope that City actually turn up at Wembley in a Cup final which we haven't done for 3 years.

Really? As soon as it had happened, I screamed "You idiot, that's going to be a penalty. It wasn't even on goal." It's not the official's fault that Bernie had a brainfart. Nor is it Pep's. We had started brightly and there was a glimmer of hope, but then...
Yes fucking really. If it was so fucking obvious why did it take Var 15 minutes to decide it was a penalty ?
And who the fuck mentioned Pep ?
I saw an offside. I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty but when I am at the match id like a clue why play has dtopped.
You must be the only person that saw it so well done, go and get the prize.

That match proves that we can very much still play on the front foot and create numerous chances when we play with urgency and speed.

This is what I hoped we would see when we brought Lijnders into the coaching set up.

We need to play with that mindset every week again. I enjoyed watching us tonight.

Shame about the result of course, but there’s a lot of good on this squad if the approach is the right one.

Back of SS3 were trying to start a 'Here's to you..." chant.
That needs knocking on the head. Very disrespectful.

so not changed my point of view since last week- West Ham away just re-enforced it.
Think Khaldoon needs to tell Pep thanks for the memories and the glory, but time has run its course and time to say goodbye, and that includes all his coaching staff.
Identify who we want as the new manager and get them in early - I have no idea who but not another year of Pep - nothing will change - unless we just want the top 4 trophy and reached some semi finals or final only to overthink it and fuck it up trophy
Player wise and cant believe I am saying this but , Bernie let go, Stones let go, Dias transfer, Halaand Transfer, Philips let go, Kovacic Transfer, Saviniho transfer, Lewis transfer, Ake transfer, Foden given a right royal rollicking and told in no uncertain terms sort his shit out or transfer, (missing out on world cup may actually be the biggest Kick up the arse he can get)
Decide who we are bringing back from loan and actually integrate them into the first team, likewise the golden nuggets if any from the academy

not a rant, not a knee jerk just now weary of two years of meh and no visible sign of anything changing if Pep stays at the helm.
