Pep to leave at the end of the season

I hesitate to ask - would you place Aberdeen above or below Bournemouth and Brentford? :-/
Wild comparison.

United hired Ferguson after 19 years without a title. They'd won three FA Cups in the last decade or so and were finishing between 3rd-8th. They'd slipped into the bottom half the season Ferguson joined. They were doing okay, but not coming off a period of dominance.

Ferguson came to United off the back of a hugely successful period as Aberdeen manager, when he won the 1980s equivalent of the Europa League and a load of Scottish domestic titles. This was back when the Scottish game stood up to the European game, so yep that Aberdeen definitely belongs above present-day Bournemouth and Brentford.

When United hired Ferguson, they had about 15 trophies in their cabinet from their 70 year history. Ferguson had won 11 on his own with St Mirren and Aberdeen and he'd won them all in the 10-15 years before he took the United job. The equivalent today would be Emery taking over at Villa and turning them into winners.

Like I said in another thread, what has happened for this headline to suddenly appear?
Is it because of going out last night?
Did pep say something in his post match presser?
Because if you ask me pep looks pumped up this season.

Maybe it's because we play mardarsenal in the final and it's the usual red tops guff they usually come out with!

I'm thinking he's doing another year personally.

If you watch the after match press conference it was more that he is staying! We know any pep be leaving will get clicks up and journalists live of them

Think the thing with Vinny if he took the job,The fans would give him time due to him being an absolute legend.Whereas any one else as soon as we dont win for 5 games would be under pressure.

I think Pep will be here another season at least, he will want to go out on a high and he won't be sacked. I'm also quite confident we'll be a way better team next season.

The Klopp idea I never entertained, but now I feel like we've kind of weirdly built a squad that would quite suit his style of play.

Vinnie would be my choice though, stick with the clubs ID but with fresh ideas and enthusiasm.

He said that our victory at CAS was and I quote “a bad day for football”.

Knowing what I do know of Khaldoon, I’d put this close to zero in chances of happening.

Khaldoon was sat down with scruffy Jim at the end of last season having meetings. K-Dawg will do what's best for the club, I'd imagine.

Enrique for me, Barca, Spain, PSG had them all playing fantastic stuff. He's already ticked the 'follow Pep and succeed' box aswell.

The football PSG play is lovely to watch as well. Reminds me of us when we had Sanè and Sterling legging it at defences. Scared the shit out of every team.

Club needs a pick up & only Vinny can do that. As already pointed out the fans will give Vinny the time to make it work.

Issue with pep staying he’s building his team which is no longer going to work. The game has changed & pep has had his time/style.

A new manager needs his own players , waiting a year will not help a new manager coming in with at least 6 going & coming in needed.

Enrique, Klopp, Kompany, Alonso.

That should be the shortlist.

Someone like Maresca doesn't have the experience at the top level to get to where we need to be.
Pep didn't have the experience when he took over at Barcelona.
Maresca has been managing for similar times to Kompany and Alonso.
United have done experienced managers in LVG and Maureen without much success.
All this does not mean that I think that Maresca is the right man for the job.

Enrique for me too....similar demeanor to Pep & demands excellence.

Seems to eat, drink & sleep football like Pep which was shown in the the French documentary when initially taking over at PSG. Bloke seemed to live at the football campus & was working out whilst strategising tactics in his office.

Plus, the football he got PSG playing last season without the need for superstars was a joy to watch.

The team we are building has worked the trouble is at the moment inconsistently, sometimes within games we see both sides. Has the game changed that much Arsenal epitomise what is popular at the moment and while slightly (not a whole lot) more stable and consistent, not much better than us at at all.
I only expect 2 or 3 coming into the squad this summer anyway, also think this current squad will be better next season certainly better than arsenal , than this season and we aren’t that far off now.
There’s plenty of young talent in the squad for whoever follows Pep whether Enrique, Kompany or whoever else.

I don't think donnarumma would appreciate him rocking up here somewhat
I don’t think he’ll be here in a few years anyway. He’s a great keeper but so is Trafford and Enrique is so far ahead of other contenders that it would be worth moving Donnarumma on to secure Enrique and Trafford’s long term future with us.

That’s if Pep is deciding to go.
