US & Israel attack Iran

A fire has broken out in Haifa

There's a really weird self-destructive thread to the Israeli attacks on Iran.

Every single time they hit Iranian civilian infrastructure, Iran responds successfully. They know the interception rate has plummeted, they're low on stock and Iran's missile and drone output has been steady for a month.

So Israel knows when they order these attacks that they're blowing up their own coutry. They are so hell bent on destroying Iran they'll wreck Israel to do it.

Why the fuck are our troops helping these countries from Iran? They house American bases who are murdering iranian citizens. Unfortunately they are fair game.

It’s not clear to me how involved we are on the quiet, double speak from the government we allowed the US to use our bases in the UK but it’s not clear if we have let the Americans use our Middle East bases

Though we intuitively hope or imagine it, there's nothing in history or psychology to suggest that experiencing collective trauma in itself produces greater subsequent moral restraint or behaviour from those peoples. At one level it's a bit depressing because if the most sinned against can ignore what happened to them and repeat those sins what hope is there for us all? But the reality is nothing is set in either direction, it can go either way based on the events, type of leadership and interventions that take place. Israel owes nothing to the world in terms of a higher standard of behaviour because of the historical trauma of the Jewish people, but equally it should not receive any free passes either and should rightly be condemned for it's appalling leadership and behaviour over a significant period of time now.

The region is blighted with regimes that seek to dehumanise other populations. It's one thing to call elements of a population murderous fanatics, or even to claim a majority of a people are belligerent towards you. It's an entirely different matter to refer to an entire population as 'vermin' or 'wild animals' because that sets a context that it's ok to exterminate or cull them. This dehumanisation as we know from history lays the foundation for atrocities to be committed and for the wider population to either shrug, turn a blind eye or actively applaud. It seems a small thing but language plays a significant part in the journey to deciding it's ok to 'carpet bomb' a population out of existence.

Worryingly this and similar kinds of speech is becoming more prevalent in our own society and certainly the current US administration are proving to be very adept at dehumanising people. Irrespective of whatever wider action we can or can't take, we can all push back against this trend in our own lives.
Agreed, and yet again it's essentially the premise that 'God likes us more than you' being used to justify the collective actions of religious group against people who don't have the same beliefs, and it's all absolute bollocks. Israel have been pushing to expand in the region for years, and playing the victim every time.

LOL Are you a Russian agent?

This whole situation is just ridiculous. Trump started a war with nebulous goals that are somewhere worse than where the west were with JCPOA in effect just because some black guy had the audacity to become a competent president of the United States.

On top of that, he tanked the global economy and Iranian oil is essentially unsanctioned, while Russia also reaps the rewards of higher oil prices.
I wish. LOL
As much as I despise the NAzi Terrorist Organisation and Eurocrats, and even as a former Chelski fan like all of us, I dislike the Russian oligarchs, who took advantage of the worker's state demise and proceed to dismantling it.
That said, I don't buy the Murdoch propaganda forced fed to the unwashed peasants painting a corrupt neonazi as a western hero.

Spain bans the US Iran war flights from its airspace. Madrid’s stance reflects Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s firm opposition to the war in Iran

Spain can do this because their economy isn't as affected by the fallout of America and Isreal's actions.

They also don't have as much interests in parts of the Middle East as we do.

They also house hundreds of thousands of British citizens who have a right to be defended by our government.
So basically we have to send our troops all over the world to defend British citizens if they come under attack?

Bearing in mind the country they are residing in is helping in an illegal war which is slaughtering their neighbours people.

Those folk know there are American bases causing these problems so it's up to them to roll the dice.

On the quiet? We are where we are and there to defend our own interests and allies.

We don’t have any ME bases, we have hubs, with no capabilities that would aid the US. That would be down to the host nation.

Can I ask, do you spend a lot of time on Twitter/X? Are these conspiracies and misinformation the norm?

Because we have strong relationships and many British interests . They obviously asked for our help, which we have provided already previously. Don’t confuse 2 very different things.
Time to die for israel again guys. Good luck to our British soldiers out there. To die for Greater Israel - such a noble death...

Heads up:

"IRGC: From now on, for every assassination, an American company will be destroyed

The IRGC warns the U.S.: “Our repeated warnings about the necessity to stop terrorist operations were ignored, and today, following your terrorist attacks and those of your Israeli allies, several Iranian citizens were martyred.”

“Since the main element in designing and tracking assassination targets are American ICT and AI companies, in response to these crimes, from now on the main and effective institutions involved in terrorist operations will be our legitimate targets.”

“We advise the employees of these institutions to immediately leave their workplaces to preserve their lives. Also, residents of areas around these terrorist companies in all countries of the region, within a one-kilometer radius, should leave their homes and workplaces and seek safe places.”

“Companies actively involved in terrorist designs will be subject to retaliatory action for every assassination.”

The list of these companies is announced as follows:

Cisco
HP
Intel
Oracle
Microsoft
Apple
Google
Meta
IBM
Dell
Palantir
Nvidia
J.P. Morgan
Tesla
GE (General Electric)
Spire Solutions
G42
Boeing

”For every assassination in Iran, these companies must expect the destruction of their related units, starting at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1 (Tehran time).”

Iran are a couple of hours ahead it seems to this would start tomorrow around this time.

From what I was told the last 2 years, its ok to murder civilians en masse if you give them prior warning (see leaflets that were sometimes dropped on gaza minutes before the daily/hourly mass slaughters).

Apparently we're going over to look after all our ex pats. I mean people are actually typing this shit.

While the rest of Europe slowly starts to recognise both the illegality and incompetence of this war and take neutral positions, these decisions by Starmer being too scared to stand up to the belligerents is going to fuck us over so badly.

It’s looking incredibly likely that Iran is going to control the strait after this war and they’re already dividing things into 3 tiers. Friendly countries whose ships are passing through freely, neutral ships who are having to pay a toll and enemy ships that are flat out refused passage. There’s not going to be any debate about which list we’re on. So we’ll be the last ones out of the crisis.

And why? Because Saudi, Bahrain and Kuwait let the Americans bomb another country form their territory and it’s apparently our job to protect them from the consequences.

But isn’t the issue energy resources and container ships. Very few (if any) are British flagged vessels. All the container ships tied to global trade are European (Maersk, CMA, MSC and Hapag Lloyd) or Chinese carriers. Not British.

We are where we are and there to defend our own interests and allies.

Why are we defending our allies when they’re participating in an illegal war?

The tomahawk that killed 170 kids was launched from Bahrain or Kuwait. So now, while Starmer has still refused to condemn that mass murder, we’re sending British troops to stop Iran retaliating.

And let’s not forget only civilian fatalities from this war in Bahrain came from a US tomahawk misfiring, which was blamed on Iran until the New York Times published proof of what actually happened.

They’re deciding who goes through based on the end destination not just who owns the ship.

All the ships got to the same place. After the Middle East they all stop at Hamburg, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Le Havre and then Southampton or Felixstowe. They don’t just go to the U.K.
