Will we win the league this season? No

I still don't think we're consistent enough and don't think we'll win every game thats left.

That said, there's a chance. Personally I'd still only give us a 10% chance right now, but I'd put that up to 20% if we beat Chelsea. Then a win v Arsenal and it's 50-50.

But it really does feel like teams have sussed them out, so who knows....

For me, at least 40% IF we beat Chelsea. That might be the more difficult game. Chelsea aren't as bad as their recent results may suggest.

We may fail to win every game, but Arsenal are likely to drop points too.

They tend to struggle after European games. If they eliminate Sporting, 3 of their last 6 games will be after CL games: City away, Fulham (h) and W Ham away. They don't look fresh, and that's probably normal, given they have been in a title race 4 seasons in a row.

On the other hand, we tend to hit form in the final months of every season under Pep. Few defences can look solid against our current front 4.

On their day, Chelsea can be excellent. But they can also be very flaky. Plus, there seems to be a bit of turmoil at the club. Fernandez and Cucurella both mouthing off recently. If we go there with the right attitude, I'd be fairly confident of getting the three points.

*cue a Chelsea win*

A draw against Chelsea, beat Arsenal and Burnley we will be 2 points behind with 5 games each left. Which I would suggest is plenty of time to reel them in.

Bournemouth away will be tough. Chelsea away also. Arsenal at home will be defence v attack. If we win all three of those then we’ll be favourites. As it stands the bookies don’t get much wrong and we’re not favourites at the moment.

Going to say the controversial thing and suggest we don't actually need to win tomorrow. If we drew, then beat them, 5 points behind with game in hand. Win the game in hand - 2 points in it. Nobody can persuade me this Arsenal team aren't likely to slip up again. They look terrified of their own shadow.

I predict if we don't win tomorrow there'll be plenty in here saying it's all over, but it's really not. Arsenal still need to do that thing they struggle at and actually win the thing.

Of course, I would rather we just win tomorrow for my own mental wellbeing.
Yeah but psychologically it will give them a boost if we don't win tomorrow. If we do beat Chelsea everything will be running for us next Sunday and we could put them to the sword like we did in 2023

Nothing wrong with thinking that. You’re only going off the evidence we’ve seen this season.

Got ourselves within 2 points after a good run in November and December, then drew at Sunderland, threw away leads against Chelsea and Brighton, and then put in our worst performance of the season at the Rags.

Got ourselves within 4 points in late February, but didn’t win another PL game after that and we only played Forest and West Ham.

Our mentality hasn’t been good when we’ve been in a good position this season. But we have a hell of a lot of players who’d never won a trophy in their careers before the EFL Cup final the other week and who’ve never been in a title race before.

Now, those who have been in a title race in our squad need to bring their experience forward, and those who haven’t need the steel from the EFL Cup final and not just shrink under the pressure like we have at other times this season.

But, as I said a few pages ago, we need to completely forget about the title and just concentrate on Chelsea. The title doesn’t exist.
In fairness our defence was ravaged by injury and illness in those 4 games. And obviously we got a ref shocker at the Trafford toilet

Bournemouth will be on the beach soon

“Freefall” is a fairly vague term when it comes to football but, regardless of Arsenal’s result in the 2nd leg this week against a farmers league team, were they to lose at our place next weekend they would indeed be in freefall.

We got 72 points last season , how much better is this squad now ? I’d say 85 points or more is a reasonable target. Will that be enough to win the league, it may well be or if not will be close. Can’t see liverpool or Arsenal getting over 90.
This was my answer last June, and this still holds true.

Bookies don't predict anything. They simply reflect balance of punters collecting some spread themselves
