Gabriel headbutt on Haaland

6 of one half a dozen of the other.
They’re both at it all game.
Haaland could have been sent off for bouncing the ball off his head last season.
It’s a great rivalry.
Shearer and Kane made a living out of sticking their arses into the opposition for an easy foul, Erling gets fuck all for having his shirt ripped off his back. In this day and age we should of got more fouls and Gabriel should of been sent off.

But it's clearly not always the way the law is applied, is it? As we've seen today and a few other times this season.

And see the other example I provided in the video.
Pre var and Walker's movement towards the other player is downwards not directly towards the other player. But as I remember a lot of pundits thought Walker was lucky on the day not to get a red.
You have provided some other still photo examples. Three are definitely nowhere near as obvious as this incident, the other two are not conclusive unless the actual motion is shown.

I wanted a red card in the stadium but having seen the full thing up close I can understand Taylor's decision. We want decisions to be made "in the spirit of the game" and fair enough, Taylor called it based on that.

Haaland pushes Gabriel first and then leans his head in, trying to wind him up. Gabriel leans his head back into Haaland to stand his ground, then flicks his head towards Haaland as Haaland leans in a bit more.

It's two young lads in a really tense game butting heads. I would have given Gabriel a red personally but I understand Taylor's decision to just give them both yellows, give them both a warning, and stop it boiling over.

Reminded me of Walker's head flick at Jahanbakhsh in the FA Cup semi-final in 2019, vs Brighton. Walker probably should have gone that day but the ref understood the scenario and let him get away with it.

Taylor was the referee then as well.

Gabriel had ripped his shirt off previously and twice in 10 seconds before the incident grabbed erl by the neck and jumped over his back.

Just watched motd.
Seriously how the fuck isn’t that a red?
How the ref and var can look at that and not give a red is fucking appalling.
I’ve said it earlier on the thread..
if Haaland does that it’s on a loop on SSN till he gets retrospective action.

The thing that pisses me off is Gabriel is available for the next 3 games when he shouldn't be.
This…
I played at a decent county level since 1975, that has ALWAYS been deemed a sending off offence. It’s not about the degree of force or the contact, but the INTENT. Erling dropped a bollock there by being a fair hard player. The other way round and the **** with the teeth too big for his mouth would have hit the deck, resulting in a red for us! Taylor shit out, bottled it. Should have been sent off for hand ball in the first half.

Gabriel was playing WWE Wrestling all game. Got away with abbout 20 fouls and at least 4 yellow cards- even stealing the shirt of Haalands back wasn't a foul apparently.
No suprise, Taylor lets teams get away with so many fouls. The only good thing is he does the same for both teams...
but not sending Gabrial off?
Dear oh me - Are head butts now only a yellow card offence these days?
Why Haaland also got booked is beyond me.

In an ideal world it isn’t a red card but in 2026 and the shit show that is refereeing it is a red card 100%. If that’s the other way round tarquin cunts would be rolling around the floor
It hasn’t though, it’s always been down to interpretation of the amount of force and referees have always differed in how they’ve managed particular games. Some give it, some don’t, that’s always been the case. If you’ve had it given against you, you want to see it consistently applied, that’s all, and people forget when it isn’t given in their favour.

If you personally want to see them given, fair enough. I don’t.
Always been a red ffs!

Should have already been on a yellow for multiple offenses, but it was a straight red.

It's a red card in today's game. If you move your head towards someone with intent to make contact and do so, it's a red.

Now personally I don't think it's that bad, both were putting their heads together before he made an aggressive motion but he knew he wasn't actually going to plant a hard headbutt on him. It was more a gesture than intent.

However, I don't make the rules and it's a red card. You either ref the game as per the rules, or you're not doing your job and need looking in to.

Haaland kept him on the pitch. If he'd reacted it's a red. Personally I thought he should have been booked for the constant shirt pulling way earlier and received a second yellow anyway.
