20 | Bernardo Silva - 2025/26

Fucking loved this guy for a decade *including him dispatching us for Monaco. Amazing player and character.
That Monaco game I watched him turn a full circle whilst controling the ball perfectly all at the same time as holding off Yaya who is twice the size of him. I knew then he was some player, nobody holds off Yaya and spins a full circle with the ball glued to his foot and then runs off.

Precisely. I remember watching it with my mate who’s the biggest Spanish Dave fan ever (who isn’t) and he said “wait there’s another one.. sign him up!” Made me laugh, more so when we did. Great business.

How do you replace a player like this? How do you replace that relentless drive to win, the insatiable thirst for battle, the sheer doggedness.

We throw around terms like 'heart and soul' easily, but that is exactly what Bernardo is to this team, and has been so from the moment he arrived here. There's a reason why Kompany told us he should be captain once he left. There's a reason why Guardiola selected him as captain when the team had that process taken away. When a big game comes around, he steps up. Every. Single. Time.

I genuinely think of all the players who've left under Pep, his role will be hardest to fill - not because of his technical qualities, of which he still has in abufance, but because of the intangibles and standard he sets for everyone else. You cannot teach the kind of heart and 'know' that he has.

He is currently earning £300,000 per week while contributing only slightly more than Lewis. He has been by far the worst player in this team since May 2023 (if we don't count Phillips and Lewis). He is a liability in defense and a huge problem for our defenders; he doesn't win any duels, whether in the air or on the ground. He can't catch up to anyone, and every midfielder in the league outruns him.

As for the right-wing position, it's pointless to even discuss it—he is even more useless there.
I don't want to sugarcoat things, just state them as they are. Currently, he earns more than Andersen, Wharton, Zubimendi, and a few other defensive midfielders combined.
I would honestly rather see anyone of them in the lineup for an away game against Tottenham than Bernardo.
You can't live off past glory.

Another season at City would mean we are once again ruining the chance to establish a proper midfield, which has been broken since Gündoğan's departure, and Fernandinho's before him. Even Kovačić is a better CM than him—he looks more natural in that position

We will have massive problems again if he stays, and I hope he doesn't. It's hard to say what's worse: the fact that he's Pep's favorite and that he has to play every single minute. If he’s used as a CMF, then someone like Rodri, Gonzalez, O'Reilly, or Anderson** will have to suffer next season. Even worse than that is Pep's masochistic move to push him to the right wing in 2026. Savinho is a better right winger than him.
He is a Benfica-level player.
Many people forget how he spent years leaking rumors about moving to Barcelona, and every time, Pep would deny those rumors with his life. I hope the time has finally come for them to come tru
Hahaha ha what a prick some of you guys are. You just prove you know fuck all about football.

Class Footballer. Legs going but he uses everything he has got every game. Be a big miss in the dressing room as well as in the middle of the park.

Gone unmentioned but he avoided a crucial yellow and a ban today, this was the cut off game for a 2 game ban. would have been a disaster for him to miss the next 2, especially so now that Rodri might be injured too. A ban seemed inevitable a month or so back, incredible discipline to avoid it.
He has 13 yellow cards this season across all competitions and still going.

Here it is:

How has he won that race, pure class (suicidal defending on that corner mind).

Didn't realise from my seat that Havertz handballed it trying to cheat.

There was also a defensive header he had late on when he was essentially playing as a center back. Saw the ball ping out of the area and you couldn’t even see him because he was eclipsed by the Arsenal player.

That would be 6'2" striker Viktor Gyökeres. Bernardo utterly bitched him
