Will we win the league this season? No

I had a fiver at the start of the season on the following League Winners, in an Acca:

Barcelona
Inter Milan
Bayern Munich
City

£5 returns £185.

Bayern have won theirs, and Inter and Barcelona are well clear and In-Play Odds are 1/500 - so as good as won!

It is just riding on City now - Cash Out offer is £58, or hold out for the full £185?
Let it ride mate!!

We went into the Madrid home game 0-3 down and then lost 1-2. Whichever way you cut it we were horrendous in that away leg and we were still miles away in the home game. We were actually miles better before Christmas and haven't quite found our feet since then.

The thing is we are where we are because Arsenal have gone through some bad form too. The title will just be decided by whether we can equal them or better. We haven't really done that consistently this season so I still think it's Arsenal's to lose and the pressure is all on them because they've been top all season. It's theirs to throw away.

It'll be crazy if it goes down to GD on the last day.
I'm not sure in which alternate universe we were "miles better before Christmas", because we started December by almost blowing a 4-1 lead at Fulham, and started the New Year with three draws. Other December results were OK but performances were not eye opening.

Compare that with recent form - beat Arsenal relatively easily in the Carabau final after blowing Newcastle away in the semis, followed that up by putting 4 past Liverpool in the FA Cup and it would have been more if we hadn't (correctly) chosen to ease off, then scored another 3 at Chelsea, all without conceding a single goal then won the must win v Arsenal. That's spectacular form by any standards.

Sure, the Madrid matches were a disappointment but sometimes you have to acknowledge how good they were in the first leg, against a young team with injuries that are still rebuilding. Nobody on this forum expected us to win the CL and actually dropping out when we did was probably a blessing in disguise anyway because it's allowed us to go on this run with no Euro match pressure.

As far as I'm concerned this is a team that has widely been acknowledged as being in a rebuilding process this season yet here we are, Carabau cup winners, semis of the FA Cup and hot favourites to make the final at least, and with a real chance of the title. That's an incredible achievement to date all things considered, even if we don't win anything else. Compare our season with that of Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool and depending how it ends, even Arsenal. Not one person, fan, pundit or anybody else expected us to be where we are right now. It's just a shame that a proportion of our fans don't seem to recognise it.

I disagree v Madrid at home we were very good if it wasn’t for the sending off we win that and until the penalty we were actually still in the tie only some great saves prevented us scoring
Since then we have beaten Liverpool Arsenal x 2 and Chelsea
We win tonight by 2/3 goals and then it is only 5 games to win the league
A run that this team with the likes of Haaland Cherki Donnarumma and Rodri amongst others are more then capable of putting together
That’s before we consider any points that Arsenal may drop
I think we win it
Villa won’t have anything to play for on the last day of the season
Exactly.

One game at a time, all we can do is concentrate on winning our games and put some real pressure on Arsenal, starting tonight, come on City.

Pep has said something like this a few times this season - its the team that grows and develops during the season that wins
We've got better and better as players understood their roles and Pep and coaches got the play right. Even when we were letting leads slip it didnt take much to tweak that into a team that can win games.

Its win / win from here for me - if we slip up then ok fine, they learn for next year and go stronger. If we win then amazing
Correct. That's why I've backed us all season. Everybody laughed at me when I said 6 months ago that we had a very good chance of winning it because Arsenal were as good as they could get while we would naturally continue to improve. That's exactly what's unfolding now.

Make no mistake Arsenal will be delighted with that result tonight. That will give them a lift.

They will smash Newcastle Saturday and will put a truck load past Burnley at the emirates.

Frustrating night

Arsenal will see that as a result for them in my opinion.

They knew we would be beating Burnley, but they would have feared a 3 or 4-0

Great result for us but very poor scoreline considering we have Everton away and Bournemouth away coming up.

Incredibly frustrating night. Instead of finishing them 5-0 and having that massive psychological edge, we’ve let them off the hook. Now, even if we win out, Arsenal have the easier run-in. They’ll probably put five past this same Burnley side and snatch the title on goal difference.

Disagree. The way that game went Arsenal will be disappointed we didn’t drop a point. We are the leaders now and it is all about GD from here on out.

People having a hissy fit because we only won 1.0. Hands up if you would of took being top on goals scored a couple of weeks ago.. if we lose out on goal difference it wont be because we only wob 1.0 at burnley it will because weve dropped silly points to shit teams to many times this season

People looking at this Arsenal team and assuming they will beat everyone is a big ask. We will have more opportunities to score more. Who would have thought we would beat Chelsea by 3 and Liverpool by 4? The time is to be positive now as we are leading.

Dropping points to spurs, west ham, forest, brighton x2 would be the reason we lose the league on goal difference not because we only beat burnley 1.0. Would you of took our position now before arsenal lost to bournemouth

I'd have took it a couple of weeks ago.
I wouldn't have done at 7pm tonight

Had a horrible feeling at the time that the ruled out cherki goal at anfield will be the difference and I still feel that now.

But football doesn’t work like that. I think if either one of us or Arsenal win all our games, that team will win the title. Not sure either will. TBH if you asked Arsenal players now would they take a 1-0 against Newcastle on Saturday. Every single player would. No one would twist. Wins are the most important thing. The likelihood of it going down to GD is far less likely than by clear points, so points is what you play for and GD is a bonus.
