Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Astounded at how poor atletico were last night. Body language in the first half was horrendous (hoofing it up straight to Raya from the back, player 'pressing' half hearted, griezmann and co flapping their arms). I've had to check how atletico got to the semi finals, which was beating brugge in the playoffs, the mighty spurs, and a ten men Barcelona (in both games).

Only in short periods in the second half last night did they seem to make a game of it and battle a bit. They gave Rice all the time in the world to dictate play whether that be dropping between the centre halves or walking into midfield. Still, arsenal didnt create much

Game goes to the second leg which is what we wanted. Hopefully it goes to ET and pens (and arsenal get knocked out).

Come on fulham

Their record from the 22nd March:

L v City League Cup Final
L v Southampton FA Cup QF
W v Sporting (1-0) CL QF
L v Bournemouth PL
D v Sporting CL QF
L v City PL
W v Newcastle PL
D v Atletico CL SF

They've not scored more than 1 goal in any of those games.

Contrast to us:

W v Arsenal League Cup Final
W v Liverpool FA Cup QF
W v Chelsea PL
W v Arsenal PL
W v Burnley PL
W v Southampton FA Cup SF

We've scored 14 and conceded 2 in that run.
And theyve scored 6 and conceded 9 in that run

1 Fulham goal is all it's going to take on Saturday, they score 1 and Arsenal get desperate.

Are they going to play the same midfield and defence again? They look shattered.

If a team defends set pieces effectively and puts all the energy they have into the game they'll take points from Arsenal.

We'll see what happens but it would be a boost to be 3-4pts behind with 2 games in hand going into the Everton game, and even better if we were 2-3pts clear with a game in hand following their game with West Ham in a couple of weeks.

It's never worth looking too far ahead but I'm hoping we'll be in a position where we need 5-6pts from our final 3 games to win the league. But, with City, we'll probably have to go and win the final game just for some fun and drama!

Am I right in assuming that Eze, Odegaard and Saka just simply haven't got 90 minutes in their legs, and likely wont over the next few weeks?

There's a heavy reliance on Martinelli, Gyokeres and Madueke to come up with the numbers, and i feel like this is likely to be their undoing when the games are tight

Saka no chance, think he still has that injury. Odegaard doesn't look in shape to do it. Eze probably be okay, picked up a muscle injury against Newcastle which is why he didn't start.

Havertz might come back but probably misses the next 2 or 3.

If they have to play that front 3 last night, they're struggling.

I have to admit Gyokores looked rapid when he went through last night.

With Eze, he came off at the Etihad when he was their most dangerous player, and then pulled up against Newcastle, so something just doesnt add up there

Shocked he didnt start last night which makes me think hes carrying something, and he may have the World Cup in his mind

Appreciate that sounds ridiculous, but it may be going through his head

He’s trying to juggle the squad to get over the line each time, so far it’s working let’s hope on Saturday they fuck up but just don’t see it tbh

If they do manage to stagger over the line, the history books won't care how it was achieved and over time it will be forgotten what depressingly bad champions they were. The Arsenal fans won't care cause they've won, but when the euphoria wears off they'll still left with the reality that they currently have to watch a team whose approach to the game is dire and borderline unwatchable in comparison to some of the other recent winning teams. It would be hyperbole to suggest it's as bad as watching Pearce era City but beyond the silverware where's the joy in it? Maybe with the monkey off his back, Arteta is capable of reinventing things but it's hard to see that.

Wonder how they go against Fulham.

Raya
White Saliba Gabriel Calafiori
Rice Zubimendi Odegaard
Saka Gyokeres Trossard

Something like that probably.

This comes to kind when I think of Arse's title 'challenge'.

Fulham at home should be a game that you take a gamble on at this point of the season, but im just not sure they can do so

Im surprised at how little Norgaard has played this season, as I thought he was a solid player at Brentford; surely he could step in for Zubimendi

I could be very wrong, but I dont think this Arsenal side has got a huge performance in them now, and itll take grit and determination to get through these next few weeks

Yes, Atletico were dogshit

Every time these fuckers don't win it's some sort of injustice or drama for a week on social media.
They don't seem to have the ability to just get their heads down and get on with it - hope it comes back to haunt them (again)
The overturned pen was a blatant dive. They can’t get away with their cheating in Europe. Arteta is a laughing stock.
