42 | Antoine Semenyo - 2025/26

First touch of an elephant , second touch is a tackle , has played poorly for weeks , has his limitations , looked great at Bournemouth their stand out player , but he is in the big league now and he isnt good enough

I said it earlier and some people didnt believe me... but he isnt the wing creator we need like Doku.

He isnt a playmaker in small spaces, he is in big spaces but thats rare for us.

You can even see how Bernie went RW to accommodate Semenyo centrally.

But now we had Haaland and Semenyo central, 2 players who can't play in small spaces...

Upgrading RW seems like a good idea in the transfer window.

To be fair, he’s had a better start to his city career than Doku did.
With Doku it’s always been about his end product. I don’t think anyone has ever questioned his ability on the ball. Semenyo has some end product but he’s not a good footballer. Doku can improve on his end product (hopefully). I don’t hold out much hope for Semenyo suddenly becoming a good footballer, I don’t think he’s going to wake up one morning at 26 years old and has developed a 1st touch overnight.

Bournemouth replaced him with a 19 year old Brazillian who has the same G/A in less games/minutes for them than Semenyo does for us... he did start well but has completely fallen off

Will say think he's been asked to hug the touchline too much.. He should be coming inside attacking crosses ect a lot more.

Such a weird contrast between his ability to pluck a ball out of the air at a weird angle and his inability to control basic passes.

Never seen a pro at this level who so obviously didn't have any real academy training.

If he is to be useful for us, we've got to use his one standout attribute(finishing) better otherwise he's pointless. He'll score 20 goals a season if we play in a way where he can be cutting in and shooting or getting in at the back post for goals, similar to prime Sterling. if we aren't playing in a way that utilises that, there is no point having him on the pitch as he's substandard at everything else.

Compare him to Olise!

He is not outstanding but the issue is who do you drop him for. Sav is very inconsistent. Marmoush is better suited centrally but Pep doesn't seem to rate him highly to be given more minutes.
