Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

It's offside. Only one Everton ahead of play soon as he runs towards the ball he's offside.

Don't get me started on the Keane red
It was offside at first, correct. Once Guehi collects the ball and passes it to Donna it voids the offside.

Had the linesman flagged before Guehi touched the ball, it would be different. But he didn't.

They don't need to - Guehi was in complete control of the ball, which makes it a fresh phase of play.

For once, can't we just accept that that goal was OUR FAULT??
Not right mate, Guehi didn't know exactly where their player was, unless he has eyes in the back of his head.

The Liner knew, and could see it all.

I'm not comfortable with this, it's subjective but the modern game with VAR has meant to have removed this.

It really is hard to fathom the difference Rodri makes. We all know it, but still some times I think, hes not fast, he hasn't got a great 'engine', he doesn't split defences like Kevin or David etc etc but what a fukcin player. How does he do it ?, We are like a PC without a CPU when he's out.We just look ragged, chaotic and all over the frickin shop without him. This is especially the case when we play with two wingers, those two midfielders are critical even against a dog n duck Everton FFS. I'm not that big a fan of Anderson but hopefully he will come in and make the difference we need. Nico OR and Nico G both looked way off tonight....
Mad isn’t it
I can only assume it’s because he is always there to receive the pass and rarely makes a mistake or gives the ball away He anticipates danger as well and reads the game to perfection

Whether it's off side or not and I think he wasn't with Guehi in control of ball why did we shit bed for 13 minutes
Make a sub go down injured or just play long and stop momentum. Even put ball in touch we need leader

Apparently the linesman put his flag up instantly, so if Guehi does nothing then it’s offside. But then Guehi obviously feels the need to do something because the guy is there and he’s not seen the flag.

Regardless, it was a shit pass from Guehi. Genuinely appalling.

The fact the player was still closing players down for me means it’s offside. A flaw in the rules. Another grey area.

Always us isn’t it these grey areas? Rags in 2023 now tonight.
If the linesman flagged then Oliver should blow.

I understand that but why didnt the flag go up immediately before Guehi made the pass back. They only play on if the opponemt has the ball in goalscoring chance, otherwise the flag always goes up.
Not from what Ive seen this last couple of seasons.

The flag usually goes up late in most circumstances in most games.

Maybe its situations like this is the reason that the flag doesnt go up early as arguably if the player aint got the ball he aint involved in play???

Guehi fuced up big time.....and the rest of the team bar Doku was poor

But that's not the law, it's the interpretation of the law by the idiots in charge. The Everton player was offside when the through ball was played and the linesman should have raised his flag. This re-refereeing of the game by the so-called experts in VAR is a fucking disgrace.

What happened to auto offside where they still have it in Europe but premier didn’t want to use there technology they said they will use there own and where as it gone have they sacked it off!! PGMOl and premier are a complete shitshow

He didn’t flag because they are told not too and rely on VAR
It was a subjective offside and Oliver should have reviewed it on the monitor

Guehi had a brain fart moment, that's all. He's been a fantastic signing who gives us a hell of a lot more than he costs us and it's downright wrong to blame him for costing us the title. But hey, you have form for negative posts.
If he doesn’t make a mistake you’d be gutted to make at 5 a side tonight, we don’t collapse.

These things don’t happen in a vacuum.

Guehi cost us the title. He’s been good, true.

But tonight with his failure to complete a 6 yard pass to the keeper, he cost us the title.

Not thought we have been good over the season but have looked like we could nick it based on how we have improved in second half of season. Need big favour from West Ham, Rodri back asap and big stroke of luck. Arsenal have looked to throw this away a few times fingers crossed for one more stumble. Need another wide player who has an output, right back and two midfielders. Thought Kovacic cost us a goal with lack of pace and got us a goal but time to let him go alongside Bernardo. Still processing the game , think still recovering from shock of that pass and the implosion that followed.

We did well to rescue a point but let's be honest that's the title gone looking at the remaining fixtures for both clubs. We had to win all our games to be in with a shout but chose tonight to revisit all our old failings. When Barry scores twice against you then you know your defence has been awful. What on earth went through Guehi's mind only he will know. It's up there with our worst cock ups over the years. The midfield and defence then just went to pieces giving away two more awful goals and it could have been more.

How that jug eared thug Keane wasn't sent off God knows....well no actually we do....Oliver the gutless cheating prick. We've been on the receiving end of plenty of awful decisions this season and we all know why, they want another name on the trophy. Also don't forget we've been at war with the premier league for years, if they can't beat us in court they sure as hell can beat us on the field.

In truth we shouldn't really have been in a title race this season and the reasons why hit home hard tonight. Not finishing teams off when on top and individual mistakes. That's about twelve points we've lost from winning positions since January. The pressure is all off Arsenal now and i expect them to batter West Ham and Burnley, but there again i expected them to do that before our result tomight.

Lets win thst bloody fa cup now!
It's not over yet, Arsenal haven't been impressive for weeks until the last match but that's one match and one they were expected to win anyway. Obviously they're favourites but then they always have been.

The thing I can't understand is everyone knows we started the season rebuilding, not the finished article so we have no right to have achieved what we have so far this season really, yet it's the usual meltdown from the melts.

Worth noting that most teams tend to try to raise their game against us too.

It's offside.

Not saying Guehi wasn't at fault but 2nd phase of play shouldn't happen he's off as soon as he moves towards the ball like he did.
Second phase happened as soon as Guehi passed it. It’s not rocket science & you’ve already said you accepted it was onside

I get we all get emotional mate, just be thankful for the comeback eh?
