Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Arsenal need to beat West Ham. If they draw or lose they let us back in. What part of that are people struggling with?
Seriously? If they should draw a match (doesn't matter whether it's West Ham or not) and we had won tonight, then us winning every game would have had us Champions, irrespective of anything that Arsenal could do in their matches.

That is no longer the case.

You don't need to think that we're out of it (I'm a born optimist, so always think that there's a chance) to work out that mathematically our situation has become poorer by drawing tonight.

To answer your question, nobody here is struggling.m with any of it.

A decent first half in which we controlled the play but only Doku was capable of keeping a shot down, Cherki and Semenyo should have done better with their attempts. The rest of the time we appeared to be trying to walk the ball in the net or just walk through 8 or 9 of their players. It was all a bit slow and laboured and we didn't home our advantage after Doku scored.

The second half followed on in a similar fashion until Guehi's farcically under hit back pass. After that for some unfathomable reason we capitulated and lost our heads completely and there was very little leadership on the pitch. Our second and third goals goals came from a decent bit of play, nice to know we can move forward quickly and get up the pitch without a dozen passes to the side and a dozen more back.

Doku's third was stunning, perhaps he can teach the rest how to shoot and curl a shot in from distance rather than endless passes across the box. It was even more impressive when you consider he was lucky not to have a broken ankle too. That 'tackle' was a red and if it had been done on a player wearing a red shirt at one of their grounds that is the colour that would have been shown.

Anyway, well done City for pulling it back to get a point but it's a disappointing result especially after the first half and having dragged ourselves into a title race.

We'd take it if we were given it, given that so manty of these seem to go against us and so would any fan of any other club. But the fact remains that when the ball was played in the first instance he's offside. The reaction from every player on the pitch, the lineman, the commentators, all knew it was offside., then suddenly it wasn't. Bad mistake yes but offside is offside. We've seen it a thousand times when goals are disallowed because they were offside in an earlier phase of play, now suddenly they're not.
Guehi's touch and control create another phase of play. The player who ultimately scored wasn't offsides in the next phase of play. Doesn't matter if Guehi saw him or not or whether he saw the linesman. The player was not offsides in the phase of play that resulted in a goal. If it's been given offsides in identical circumstances - that was a mistake.

So the issue apparently is still "poor us."

This team lacks leaders. Haaland
laughing and joking around boils my piss.

They were physical as fuck but none of this lot put a boot in or gave them one back. You sometimes have to fight fire with fire.
And if we did you can guarantee we'd get players sent off. We've had players sent off for a lot less, it never goes our way.

We need to sort out set pieces out, it’s worth 9 points a season minimum especially with the amount of corners we have.
It’s something we must look at in the close season. I was watching the Liverpool title race from a few years ago and we scored a lot from corners

Looking at their third goal again what dozy twat just stood and watched Barry tap it in when they could have stopped it?

Lots of spoilt cunts, sadly.

Turn on the players ridiculously quickly.

there’s a very good chance we come away with at least 2nd, and two domestic cups in the bag, during our 2nd rebuild season.

Let’s have a bit of perspective, this will be a celebrated season in future when people look back. We’ve won something!
Great post mate.

The point is he was offside BEFORE that phase of play. I'll say it again, we see goals disallowed by the dozen every single week for the same thing, because a player was offside "earlier in the move".

I know that but it’s still away. And it’s still in front of a crowd that won’t want them collecting the trophy there. It’s certainly not a given.
I don’t get why you all think all London clubs hate each other.

As someone who lives reasonably close by and knows a lot of fans of London clubs believe me when I say palace couldn’t care less about Arsenal (palace aren’t even based in London).

I kept reading about Fulham being a derby for Arsenal. Again that wasn’t a derby.

Arsenals derby is Tottenham and they have a rivalry with Chelsea. The other London sides don’t really have any sort of rivalry with Arsenal tbh

Read recently that we have the least amount of penalties per minutes in the opposition box. I can understand us not being the team that get the most penalties, but the bottom of the list? Make that make sense.

Because we are reffed completely differently to every other team. My child is 13 and doesn't really get football. Always asks why City didn't get a foul here and there. My wife who has literally no interest in football sees it and asks me why I even bother every week because the game is fixed for City not to succeed. I have rag and Scouse mates who know we are reffed differently, rags tonight messaging saying the fix is in and OliVAR needs investigating.

The tone was set when Doku didn't even get the foul after being dragged to the floor after 3 minutes. He then started to book Everton players as the game wore on, as soon as they got back into it they were free to boot fuck out of everybody again.

Everton go down to 10 tonight and we win that with ease. Gabriel gets sent off last week and he's missing for 3 games. There was a run from NYE to mid February where we were either denied a blatant penalty or the other team escaped a red. It's not inconsistency. Its either intentional or unintentional bias. Which comes right from the top of Pigmol

Like I've said earlier tonight. I'd be happy to join a 20 club Super League now. Leave the Prem to rot. Not fit for purpose.

I never played with blade boots they weren’t around back then, just put boots with studs on and stop slipping and sliding about. perfect hybrid pitch that is watered just before ko?

Well

The truth is that there are some truly miserable cunts, who are supposedly City supporters, and who are hell bent on being fucking negative and miserable.

If that is what supporting a team is about, they need to follow something else !
We saw it tonight on tv and the whole world was watching.

Leaving early to post negative shite no doubt.

I’d still say the same how can a player be 2 yards offside and the flag didn’t go up straight away! When in other games I’ve seen the flag go up straight away! Now if I hadn’t seen that loads of times this season I wouldn’t be moaning about that goal! My main moan is other games they put the flag up straight away and it a free kick
Guehi's action created another phase of play.

How many dozens of times have we seen the flag not go up when it appears clearly offsides? Because the linesmen have been instructed as such.

Sure - I guess the really limp takeaway could be "waaah if the flag had gone up immediately we wouldn't have made the error there that resulted in the 100% within the rules of the game goal."

Kinda soft innit?

Think your being a bit out of line personally. You’ve made your point. Just leave it now. There was no need for the personal digs either tbh.

We are all frustrated and we all vent in different ways. If you can’t handle his opinion just mute him

Not sure you needed to stick your oar in, and I prefer to call the miserable bastards out, thank you.

It was offside at first, correct. Once Guehi collects the ball and passes it to Donna it voids the offside.

Had the linesman flagged before Guehi touched the ball, it would be different. But he didn't.
Amazing how some on here think it wasn't offside yet everybody on the pitch, linesman and commentary team did.

Didn't we benefit from one of those offsides in the COVID title season? Sure it was against Villa. Might have been Rodri miles offside, defender played it and didn't know he was behind him, Rodri took the ball and we scored from it (Bernardo?).
Yes. The defender was Tyrone Mings. I thought it was unfair on him at the time

Bang.on. I'll take the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup all day long - fuck me we should beat Chelsea......
