Chelsea (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

“Manchester City in 2025-26 are the first team in history to win every single match across both the FA Cup (6/6) and League Cup (6/6) in a single season. (Opta)”
So they aren't counting games won on penalties as we won them all in 2018-19.

Not a classic but a hard fought, well earned trophy. Have to say i thought Chelsea did extremely well to limit us rather than us not performing. They pressed us brilliantly, forced us to go places we didn't want to, double marked our biggest threat they just had nothing upfront to offer a threat. You take a final win however they come. Domestic cup double is something 18 other sides would kill for and still a very faint hope of more.

Agreed. Chelsea were starting to find a bit of joy and that disappeared almost as soon as Kovacic came on.

I like Marmoush, but was disappointed to see him start over Cherki and Foden. He never got in the game and it was a mistake by Pep, but credit to him, he fixed it at half time and we looked much better for it in the second half.

Two very good substitutions at crucial times.
Never quite understood this "mistake" thing. You have no idea how a match is going to pan out until it's played. If Marmoush had come on and scored a couple in the first half we would all be calling it a masterstroke. You try something, it either comes off or it doesn't, it's not a "mistake". If it doesn't work you change it.

Probably the idea was to keep a couple of players fresh for Tuesday to give us a bit of an edge, very tough week to have a major final in London 3 days after an important home match, then another one at what is probably the furthest we have to travel 3 days after the final.

Hard game to enjoy that, a frustrating watch and a strange game. Neither team had any rhythm or cohesion. Atmosphere was horrendous n’all.

But we saw one of the great Cup final goals to win it… good move, good pull back, incredible finish!

Buzzing!

Well pleased we could get Bernardo and Stones a win at their last trip to Wembley with us.
It's not a game that'll live long in the memory. The winning goal was one of precious few highlights.

Doesn’t get any better than seeing City winning the FA Cup Final at Wembley

Really mature performance from the boys, you could see how the League Cup win had transformed them on the big stage

Great backing from the fans too, a marvellous day all around and fair play to Chelsea fans (certainly the ones I encountered) who took the defeat like grown ups

What gets me with this fat bastard is why does he think he’s a native of Ordsal or Weaste, when the truth is he’s a Scouse bastard, not a salfordian, yes he played for them but don’t act all big and I’m a red and hate City, you are just a fat granny shagging Scouse **** so get fucked

You are an Evertonian and never forget it

The fat **** mumbled some shite about Liam and Noel not being there when we were rubbish. Not sure if it was an attempt at humour but at least Micah called him a "bitter red."

The bloated bastard needs fucking off.

A very long day left donny at 9, half way down a big car smash on north bound on M1 but a queue on our side with cars rubbing necking to see what it was, so got to watford junction at 12 45, straight into Oneil fora couple. Then train to Wembley,, in the 125 seats but in 2nd half 2 or3 was having a punch uptrend we scored, game over back to watford junction which took ages and 10 stops, back in Oneil for a couple on bus at 7 back on M1 and another crash on our side, so got home at 11
Saw the aftermath of that northbound accident about 11:30 (It happened at 06:30). The Peugeot 208 was a mess. I was sure there would be fatalities.

True, but he DIDN'T have a bad game. There was the error which for me was down to Akanji, who should have put his foot through it instead of leaving it to a nervous 19 year old in his first match in a new country, then he was booked shortly afterwards for a tackle that might have resulted in a goal had he not made it. While the players around him undoubtedly protected him a bit after that, he didn't put a foot wrong for the rest of the match so this so-called "bad debut" is all about that one error.
True but that’s not the perception. They call feck off anyway Khusanov is brill.

6am start from up North and just in bed, another trophy, not the best match but a wins a win with a great goal! only bit of bother all day was some young chelsea lad trying to shoulder barge me on wembley way after shouting northern cunts at us... he bounced right off me as I saw it coming, he made himself look a right tit when he ended up on the deck!

Come on City!

Yeah Chelsea did a very good job of nullyfying our play, they worked really hard. Commiserations to them, it's shit to lose a big final.
Thought our defense were awesome tbh.
So happy today!!
(It's Sunday morning in Oz)

They spent the first 25 minutes wasting as much time as they could, they fouled very cleverly, and dived more than arsenal, absolutely no ambition to attack for the most part.

If that's the future of football, it's shite (see arsenal), I'm glad we've never played that way.

I'm hoping you're taking the piss.
