Pep to leave at the end of the season

Got to admit, I’d be slightly sickened if the club knew Pep was going and have chosen Maresca but let Alonso go to Chelsea.

My best guess would be that they don’t want major change and Maresca being ex-City will be a smoother transition. But stinks of a safety move rather than a gutsy one.
He could be our version of Slot and it could be very bad just because he was assistant to Pep.

By this logic even Lillo or Kolo Toure also qualify for our manager job.
Unless he is probably seen stop gap for eventual Vincent Kompany takeover after 3 years.

I think, if he's going why would he or the club announce it now? We are still in a title race, if its going to be announced it will be after the Bournemouth game.

No one wants Maresca but clearly he is the replacement, spoken highly enough of by Pep.

I think he’s too big a name (he could walk into most clubs IMO) to accept being a stop gap. But that’s just my reckoning and I could well be wrong.

Equally, he might see it as X years on his CV at City and chances to win things and bolster his reputation.

Managed a small team no expectations you can lose games draw games no headlines! done a great job!

Maresca had been at city knows how it’s run knows the expectations of our club knows people in the club Khaldoon Soriano and so on! He also managed a team with expectation won two trophies no matter how small they are!

So in what world you think Iraola is better choice I don’t know! All he has is he plays good football!
Ah the ol "knows the club" argument. The one united fans been using for years. Every manager will know the expectations at the club so don't know why we need Maresca for that. Id much rather Iraola than Maresca. Like you said. He plays good football. Imagine what he could do with our squad

I’d love to know how many times over the last decade in press conferences the exact amount of times these cockroaches have asked him. Or should I say begged him when he’s leaving!? Lol

Yes by that logic Lilo and Toure qualify, so it obviuosly isn’t the logic we’d be using if we appoint him is it.

I'm not sure what Maresca has done in his managing career that qualifies him as the manager of one of the biggest and best clubs in the world. I'm not ruling out that if Pep leaves and Maresca joins, it could turn out well. We have seen unproven managers take big jobs and succeed before. But way more often than not they turn out to be over their head.

I would obviously prefer a manager that has proven he can win serious trophies before. It's hard to be anything but sceptic when we have gone from recruiting a manager widely considered as the best in world football to recruiting a manager with more or less no real top level success on his resume.
Maresca is the kind of manager we could recruit if we were to get relegated.

Just had the misfortune to watch Sunday Supplement with the rag prick that is Mark Ogden, who is adamant, along with the other two clowns that Pep is 'obviously' going in two games time, despite him saying otherwise just yesterday. He also blamed City and Pep for the cup final, becoming just another game and he blamed him for managers not wearing suits on cup final day anymore. City ruining football since 2008.

Mark Ogden? Can’t say I’d ever listen to anything that Gargoyle has to say? First rate **** and a Rag to boot. Managers in suits, jumpers for goalposts….wtf.

The British media collectively hoping the best manager in PL history walks away…. Incredibly bitter bunch the press pack.

Mark Ogden? Wasn’t he the **** who mocked the way Harry Kane speaks whilst on air? A despicable ****, Ogden not Kane

I think Alonso is still a gamble! Let’s see how he does next season! If he thinks playing the pep way will be easy when teams now in premier are good at parking the bus do you in transition
