Would need to increase taxes on companies and those with inherited generational wealth. State income for the rest. That’s where AI will take us apart from the few if it’s ever deployed at the scale some predict.

Will be interesting how it pans out, the current narrative seems to be that prices will drop due to increased efficiency. (Buisness speak for cutting the workforce). Will never happen though, the government would never take the hit on VAT. Taxing the companies seems the only way but even that is difficult in todays world with all the tax avoidance methods used.

I saw an interview with Davy Jones of The Monkees way back in the 80s and it always stuck with me, he was asked why he didn’t live in the UK, his reply, if I pull up in a Ferrari in the USA people will say nice car and congrats, in the UK they’d scratch it!

Yes in the private sector. Gordon Brown started the demise of defined benefit schemes with his tax raid on invested growth of the schemes, other factors were the straw that broke the camels back. However there is little doubt Brown fucked DB schemes
