When Pep leaves we were always going to need a transition, it being somebody who has worked under Pep makes the transition easier, he'll try and have the team play inferior pep-lite football which is the best we can hope for immediately after Pep. It allows the squad to still be functional without drastic, risky change and gives us a shot at success. We've gone 2 years without a title, we cannot be going many more without completely losing the winning machine mentality as there wont be many title winners left in the squad if that happens and a big change makes that possibility more likely.
It's the manager after the manager after Pep that has to be the correct call. Keeping Vinny an option for that role and not being the transition option is a smart move. When he comes, we want him here for a long time, not sure the man after Pep will be here that long.
Personally think we should be throwing everything at trying to get Enrique lined up for as soon as possible, he's the only standout for me that could bring even slightly comparable long term regular success, we should be going after him like we went after Pep.
