Pep to leave at the end of the season

Unfortunately, yesterday’s interview was probably just for show. The club likely wants to announce the news themselves — since it will generate huge traffic for the club’s own media channels — and doesn’t want Pep to give it away to the press for free.
There are some unusual comments on the forum and that's right up there.

If I take that press conference in isolation, then it sounds like Pep's future is yet to be determined or finalised yet. The press think otherwise.

No shit , Maresca agent is Jorge Mendes , Jorge Mendes is also Viana's agent and Jorge Mendes is very close to Fabrizio Romano. That's what I don't like about this if Maresca comes in Mendes has deep links now to City within the club.

All a bit odd last night, the players at the end when coming over to the fans look shell shocked (not sure that was just the result). Pep stood on his own in the middle of the pitch. Who knows what is going on..

Correct. We (well, us FOCs) all remember what happened at "The World's Greatest Club" when Busby retired and became a director. Allegedly, he was down at the Cliff nearly every day. O'Farrell and McGuinness never stood a chance with a legend like him watching over them. Same in the modern era with GPC. If Pep is going, a clean break.
They never learn, slur Alex at every match watching over every decision has never helped any of their managers.

Can believe some of that, and that his talking to other clubs may have been to apply pressure as much as to have a contingency.

But highly doubt he leaked what Holt published. By that point it is all done and he is set.
Holts breaking story was a mixture regurgitated stories and outright lies. He has never respected City and sees this as a chance to stick the boot in.

Conte leaves Napoli. Maresca had reportedly agreed terms there as a replacement should that happen.

Well what are the chances...

Pep looked torn after the game. The obvious disappointment of the result and losing the league but I also saw he couldn't face the fans. Maybe his vision was win the league and off he goes. I think he is emotionally connected to this club and its just as much a pain for him as it is for us. Hey lets hope he changes his mind.

If you take his (many) previous press conferences in isolation he is staying because he has 1 more year contract and no conversation is necessary.
His reply last night was clearly an attempt to shut down further questions around his imminent departure.

Agree, which is why I don't for one second believe that 'Maresca leaked it'.

You saw that in his interview, when the interviewer said the fans love you, and he said I love them more. Definitely torn..

It now sounds like there are reasons to be hopeful Pep might stay. It is a very difficult situation for fans, because BBC Football and the commercial media are definitively saying that he's leaving and that Maresca is coming in but Pep claims that he has a year on his contract and wants to discuss his future with Khaldoon. If Maresca is over-playing his hand, then that would explain how we got here.

I would be surprised if City would pass up another year with Pep, but if Pep is minded to leave after 1 more season, and City/Khaldoon really want Maresca as his long term replacement then City might want to call time on Pep. The press 'revelations' now look unreliable.

Exactly. Someone on the Maresca thread suggesting that he should shadow Pep for another season, like he's some apprentice who's not a manager in his own right. I can't think of a worse way to undermine his authority when he finally takes over.
