Pep to leave at the end of the season

There is zero chance he stays IMHO. There are too many reasons and too many precedents set to show that staying a final year when everyone knows you are leaving just doesn't work.

Can you image the circus every press conference would become if there was a run of poor form. The papers and social media brigade would run endless stories about key players wanting out, him losing the dressing room, which club he was going to next, who would be taking over, etc etc.

I genuinely believe that as part of his last extension, they simply added a year on to avoid such nonsense, and had no intention of him seeing that out.

So, as fans of this club, our job is now to , come to terms with it, trust the ownership, get behind any new manager and turn up and support every game in the new season.

I dont think it's a bad idea at all. He's already been an assistant at City. If he had stayed and was then promoted it wouldn't be an issue. As you say, it happened with Viana and Txikik. Important thing is we get the transition right, whatever the optics.
And just gives us that bit of insurance without having a season fall apart if something doesn't work out.

If you think we've been crap in the league you've become entitled, and I don't say that loosely, a great many of our fans have. We've only lost one, to the rags, as far as I can remember and it's the only match in which statistically we were not better than the opposition.

We've won two trophies since and finished second with our nearest rivals 10 points behind with one match to play. For most people, for a team in transition that's an excellent achievement.

Im not entitled. I can accept that teams can play crap sometimes. And i obviously said "in the league" as im fully aware of our cup wins.

Im happy with what we've come away with this season. But my original point was that we fell short in our title challenge during a period where the Pep leaving story was under wraps. The story breaking didnt derail our season.

I think there's too much smoke around this story for him to stay now.
His mind is obviously made up and there have been too many "soft signals" to borrow a term from the 115 thread

I suggested it too and i wasn't being sarcy. Pep mentoring Maresca for a season will hand Enzo the reins as seamlessly as possible. Makes sense to me.
People like Pep can't take a back seat, he has all the power and is allowed absolute focus, or it's nothing. Can't see how your suggestions would work, whether, be that Pep in charge or Maresca in charge.

I sincerely hope that Pep decides to stay (until HE says it I’m not giving up). IF he does decide to go I’m not overly keen on Maresca (strikes me as someone who could have an argument in an empty room) and would far prefer Iraola, what he’s done with Bournemouth is miraculous
Think Dr Octopus would have been a decent appointment, but Maresca is a known entity within the club. I agree, however, about his temperament and general demeanour, and Italians can sometimes be a tad feisty, especially with the media. I’ve always thought the club made a mistake by not appointing someone alongside Guardiola to help lessen the burden of media duties, as Platt helped Mancini. It might be prudent to reconsider that if Maresca is appointed.

People crying there emotional whilst the man himself is having to deal with the poison which is the press. Wait until he sees that new north stand named after him Sunday, guy will be broken.

Not sure what thread this goes in, but how much of a **** does the bloke with the arsenal bottle, look like now?

He's gonna have his own little spot in the Premier League 25/26 season review that'll be shown ad nauseum. Not a great thing to become 'famous' for but hardly the end of the world.
