Pep to leave at the end of the season

My rambling thoughts…

Pep has indicated that he is ready to leave. The club has then put in place a contingency plan with Enzo and wanted to have the north stand complete to say goodbye and rename it to mark pep’s legacy.

The mess is down to the mad genius changing his mind. The press jumped the gun for maximum damage.

That’s it imo. Pep is finding it difficult to leave. Not easy to walk away from. He isn’t just a manager leaving but a colossal figure in Man City. He help build it.

Giving that up to someone else with his status on the game?

Anyone know when the Khaldoon interview typically gets released? Next week at some point?

I feel like he'll go ahead with the extra season. Can't see him being happy limping out of the title race like that. The rebuild is nearly complete, a couple more pieces and another proper tilt at the big two trophies would be hard to ignore. If Maresca wants to take the role, he can come on for a season as assistant again and transition.

mate, in your opinion,
is it at all possible that after last season's woes and our early form this season being below the levels expected,
that the chairman, being a results-based man, had a chat with guardiola after a few months of this season and told him it might be best to leave at the end of the season?
maybe guardiola agreed or just took it on the chin.
maresca got the nod.

but our form picked up and deep down guardiola doesn't really want to leave,
hence why he says he needs to speak to the chairman.
I think it is entirely possible, but with it being much more mutual between them.

I do also think Pep wanted to leave last year, but stuck around to do right by the club through the rebuild and the 115 verdict wait. And that identifying a new manager early was always part of the joint intention.

Tons of them. Im not advocating for any of these btw. But lets not pretent Maresca is the only option. 90% of managers would jump at city job
Iraola
Fabregas
Conte
Glasner
Pochettino
Xavi
Marco Silva
Inzaghi
Hoeness
Imo, none of them are any worse than Maresca.

But seems the club have gone for him.

And if you believe reports, while he was under a long term contract ar Chelsea. So not just because he was available, but because he was seen as the right guy, comparable to any other manager in a job.

There are plenty of messages out there saying he's leaving because he knows the charges are going to be proved, and doesn't want to manage us in a lower division after our well deserved relegation.

He should have left last year if that's his worry.
Plenty of rumours fed by opposition fans you mean, because that's what they WANT to believe. Surely you're not so naive that you can't see that?

It's reported to be highly likely that the verdict will drop this summer and if we're charged for anything at all the narrative will be that Pep left because of it, so you'd better get used to it.

Everybody else decided we were guilty long ago, the verdict isn't going to change that for most of them even if we're cleared of everything.

Romano said on YouTube that “Luis Enrique is now going to negotiate a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, which is already in the final stages..."
Paris might be a shithole but the prospect of having to move to Liverpool would certainly get most around the table pretty damn quick.

We so close to Arsenal because Arsenal been poor and can’t get it over the line themselves! They had to wait for us to drop points for them to win the league! For me a top team would have put us to bed months ago! They are shite the worse champs I’ve seen! Oh and very lucky with a few none red cards! For me they still bottle jobs! Oh and you have to win it back to back to even be considered a good team, so we were told..
The football they play is turgid (the much-lauded invincibles weren't much better, a lot of draws and 1-0 wins) and it's not a great watch, BUT we have to concede that you don't get to the top of the table and the CL final unless you have something about you. We all know that we're not quite up to standard (because we're rebuilding, not because we're crap or didn't try hard enough, you could see what it meant to them all last night after the match), but plenty have won the league on similar points totals. They're not going to go on and dominate for decades that's for sure.

It's always this murky, sadly.
Then 'he was in on it' is just as plausible ;)

There were plenty of rumours about knowing it around the club itself, anyone with any connection claimed so. I don't buy it pal, not to the extent I have noted. His agent using other clubs to push, I can maybe see. Him leaking Pep is going in that manner at that time, sorry, no.

Chelsea having initially leaked the very first reported contact is also not out of the question for me.
