26 | Savinho - 2025/26

I don't think Sav can really fit in this team. I said at the time he should be given a fair crack when he decided Spursy was a viable option after one season (we gave him a longer term deal off the back of the links); but has failed to really nail down a place. Similar can be said of Nico G.

Always good

But never good enough
Probably the right assessment.

I do think he's got the potential to be a top class winger. Most games he plays for City and does things that make me think he's going to be brilliant. That chance towards the end was created all by himself, his delivery wasn't good enough though.

Seemed to suit him far better playing on the left last night, once he'd made that switch. But I'm still 50/50 about him,
Has he got it in his locker to be a game changer, is he our Luis Diaz in hiding?

Really is a decision that made me question things this.

I understand from the rumours at the time we didn't want to deal with spurs because of Levy's behaviour in the past

and I understand the clubs trepidation to sell a young player to a rival given what happened with the likes of Palmer (in his first season or so at Chelsea)

I Also can see why selling Savinho so soon would have undermined the CFG system with players less likely to accept coming through the system due to no perceived pathway.

But - turning down the spurs offer stinks to me like a very emotional decision, something I wouldn't expect from such shrewd operators as we have at city.

How much did Spurs offer again?

Despite Sav's struggle in the first season he did show enough to be deserve given a second season (but the new contract was a stretch).. I don#t think it was an emotional decision as such more covering their arses.

With Maresca I could believe any rumor now.

Thought he was definitely staying but he may not rate him whatsoever regardless of potential.

What a bit of business, reject £70m to possibly get 55m Euro after a season of nothingness. A blind man on a galloping horse could see he's not the required standard

Just isn't good enough at all. He's not a Manchester City standard of player.

All this "Confidence this, Confidence that" is a load of codswallop. If he hasn't got the confidence, then he shouldn't be here. Get rid and upgrade on a better player at the same age.

Hm, we have a bunch of players in that bracket. If Viana and Maresca come to sort our deficits in the physical and mental areas I'm all for clear and tough decisions. No sentiments, set the right tone for a new era.
No one's bigger than the club.
