Pep to leave at the end of the season

Just google “Leicester fans not happy with Maresca” or replace Leicester with Chelsea and you’ll see a lot of fans were not enamoured with him.

It’s a far cry from those Leicester and Chelsea fans you have “talked to”, think there’s an element of being economical with the truth in your post, seems a bit subjective.
plenty on here not enamoured with PG!

As everybody seems to be speculating here's my two pence worth...

What's probably occurred has Pep's said a good while ago he'd be leaving at the end of this season. To him it felt so far in the future that he was comfortable with that decision. Since then he seemed to have got his mojo back, things beginning to click with an almost entirely fresh squad and working with Pep2 had reinvigorated him. He knows there's potentially another chapter there in his reign at City. As the time has approached it has now fully dawned on him the magnitude of leaving. He's probably exhausted and needs a proper break, but realises in 6 months time or whatever he'd be fully recharged and would love to be able to walk back into the club.

I think he knows he's not getting it better anywhere else. The amount of control he has, the mutual love everybody has for him. Some are suggesting he might go into international football, but I personally think he'd hate that as he is so OCD. Can you imagine the amount of face scratching he'd do with players pulling out of his squads for questionable reasons? Not being able to work with players on a day to day basis etc.

I'd love him to continue, but if his decision is to leave I hope it isn't something he is going to regret in a few months time.
Put the No2 Pep in charge for a few months & tell No1 Pep he can take off as long as he likes until he decides what he wants to do, Who knows No2 Pep Might be quite good?

Can't for the life of me figure out what the delay in the formal announcement is all about. There signs have been there for ages, he flogged his restaurant, he's bought a new home in barca, his background staff are leaving any day now, rumours his apartment lease is due to expire. There isn't anything of substance to imply he's staying. So what is the reason for this delay, we're not a public company so there's no regulatory reason it has to been managed. It cant be to secure transfers, please sign to play under Pep, oh sorry he's gone, we forgot to mention it. The title has gone so no impact on a last day showdown, so wtf is going on. Have CFC thrown a legal spanner in the works re Maresca contract? ie we dont want to announce Pep has gone until Maresca is 100% done and the lawyers (YET AGAIN !) are trying to reach a settlement..

Please see above - it's hardly rocket science
See above what/where ?

This summer will be the same whether Pep stays or we appoint Maresca, neither will have much time with the players before next season, the only difference is Pep already knows those that will still be here, whoever they are.

Random, but if you are going down that route then I’d say much more likely Viana who’d have been suggesting a change might be good.

:) I like a good conspiracy theory, but don't start that, because then it expands to both Viana and Maresca conspiring to get Guardiola out and leaking it through Mendes.

We don’t have a problem shifting season tickets, it’s matchday tickets on sale or that appear on the exchange that are resulting in empty seats.

It’s the one off charge of £50+ for an adult and £20/£30+ for a junior that’s the problem. We are a big club with a big local fanbase but with regards to tourists, we’re nothing compared to the Rags.

I work in town and use Picc train station every week day, even for midweek games they have train full’s of people pouring out from here, there and everywhere. Irish, Scottish, Welsh, southern accents.

When we’re at home, it’s mostly commuter trains from Gt Manchester full of blues and the club has priced out many locals.
Big problem for mid week games, the club are addressing the issue by making £25 seats available next season. Just hope it’s not too late, the Blues that used to go may not return, even at £25 if you like a pint or two, with transport it’s an expensive midweek night out.

It costs me:

£25 FOC season ticket
£15 coach (with a couple of bottles included)
£11 two beers at the ground
£7 two pints at the pub we go from, one before, one after
£9 Taxi home

£67 in total with a discounted ticket, if I’m not drinking alcohol about £30 including a couple of non alcoholic bottles.

He’s seen his backside mate, it’s all got too real for him and he’s simply not ready, and by not ready i dont think its a case of i will be this time next year either. I think this has put the spooks up him and could be completely new era of pep. The question you have to ask is what next and there is simply nothing for him that will fulfill him like this. Once you’re gone you’re gone and he’s thought hang on, im not finished.

Not just Google, I remember the criticism of him from the two sets of fans, I was merely pointing out he definitely had his fair share of detractors and neither Chelsea or Leicester fans were too disappointed when he left.

Maybe, but 'any coach' isn't trying to learn about an entire squad of new players, is he?

Let's assume, because it seems the most likely scenario imo, that this has actually been done and dusted for a while, then the advantage of that is that at least they'll have had the chance to think about the logistics of getting everyone up to speed given the disruption of the WC. Ditto transfer targets. Suspect there's been lots of informal discussions going on across multiple parties to supplement the formal stuff too.

Despite the seeming uncertainty of the last few days;, as a business City is generally too well run for this to be a chaotic transition - think it's just the case that the various machinations aren't visible to us as fans/customers.

Given the ludicrous levels of success we've had, I'd imagine by this point they've also run impact analysis and mitigations strategies for the business based on various scenarios around a level of performance downturn on the field too. The Soriano departure rumours probably stem from him being shown a worst case scenario model where they actually have to be nicer to the legacy fanbase and that's tipped him over the edge :-)

He walked the championship with Leicester. They should have been fucking delighted with him.

Chelsea fans were generally disgusted they got rid and replaced him with Rosenoir.

My guess he will have a year off, then manage either Italy, Brazil or Argentina for one world cup cycle and retire. His divorce settlement must have been astronomical, so he probably 'needs' a few more years but not at club level. So he has plenty to do away from us...

A big problem for me is rarely being able to get 2 or 3 seats together.
The club should consider selling seats for a block. Not all blocks . Then if you get there early you choose seats first and can meet up with mates and sit/stand together like the old days.

My interpretation is that City have a timetable of events, media drops etc for his and Bernardo and Stones departure and they want to do it justice for all three. The fact that the news leaked a week early is not been allowed to derail that timetable. Also, because nothing is riding in what’s left of this season works both ways in that there is no pressure to confirm anything.

Interesting to see something is being done. That hasn’t been posted in here before. How do you know this?
