Enzo Maresca

I genuinely hope he’s great but I can only go with observing him at Leicester and Chelsea and say that he seems a somewhat flawed character, and in terms of available managers with premier league experience I am much more impressed by Iraola’s work at Bournemouth, his development of players, the energy and work rate of his team and the standard of football delivered with meagre resources is phenomenal. However the club no more about football than I do, and whether I like it or not the decision is made. All the best Enzo, you have the toughest act to follow, and if you are half as good as Pep you’ll be fucking great

Summed up my thoughts too. Would have been delighted with Iraola, but Maresca's inside knowledge of City will hopefully be invaluable. Got to trust the club to get it right, like they usually do.

On Donnarumma’s kicking game, n’all:

1. Good short passing game, much better than he’s given credit for
2. Very poor long passing game, can only just get the ball past the halfway line and when he does it’s erratic and often nowhere near where he’s aiming. Often this puts us under undue pressure as the opposition get the ball back to attack us. This season we have faced more shots on our goal than any season under Pep.
Trafford is no better on (2)

I think he’s an easy appointment. He has knowledge of the club but is not so intrinsically linked that those in charge would be averse to getting rid if it went to shit.

Replacing the GOAT is an impossible task and he’s probably on a hiding to nothing. Giving that task to someone like Vinny would be a huge risk in case it goes wrong and we need to get rid. Maresca gets his chance, if it works out great, if not fuck him off and Vinny can replace the man that replaced the man and have much less pressure on him.

Lijnders leaving so I’m guessing Big Willie will be his assistant

What do fans expect from him?

I expect to compete for all trophies to the very end of a season! Also the club expects us to win titles trophies..

Everyone that talks about this guy loves him, his players love him, pep loves him. I’m willing to see what he can do and judge him based off that. Chelsea was a mess
When he arrived and an even bigger mess now without him so I can’t hold him accountable for all of what happened there.

It's tough, particularly in the modern era of football, to follow a legend like Pep and be successful. I don't think we would be hiring Maresca if Pep thought poorly of him. I'm excited to see what he brings to the table.

My thoughts exactly. The huge temptation would be to bring in Kompany now, and it would certainly soften the blow of Pep leaving. But would it be right? I think the club have thought about this deeply and are probably making a sensible move. My own hope was that Pep would have done one more year and that would have coincided with Kompany completing the standard three years that successful managers do with Bayern.

As a long shot has anyone considered that the new manager could be Iraola. There has been no news on where he was going to end up. Wouldn't be a bad choice.
Jack Gaughan did mention we'd spoken to an unnamed Spanish manager before Christmas, but there are just too many sources running with Maresca for any of us to think it will be anyone other than him.

Desperately trying to find some positives on this sad day.......

Imagine Maresca tweaking things, playing to Haaland's strengths and all those runs he makes??

Shearer's record could be toppled in the Prem and silverware continues for City??

It's Maresca.

Iraola would be a much bigger risk, he's a bigger departure from Pep's style of play and you wonder how well it will translate to a club that has to play 3 times a week.

I expect he may end up at Liverpool or Newcastle early next season if Slot/Howe start poorly.
