Enzo Maresca

He's Pellegrini.

He's a good manager and could pop off. But realistically, he's the man before the man imo. And he knows that, he gets to repair a slightly tarnished reputation in a comfortable environment. Win a few trophies and get a big job in Italy.

The man, imo, is Luis Enrique not Kompany. But as always we'll see how it works out.

That would be the dream, but the rumour is he’s not an interim appointment.

Not content with this, but short of Enrique or Ancelotti arriving I don't think the club could have done more.

I do worry about the state of the squad going forward. Toward was alarming as, if we're being perfectly frank, the majority proved they weren't good enough.

There were two reports that came out the other day I found interesting. One was Jack Gaughan saying City had spoken to Maresca and an unknown Spanish manager about taking over from Pep. The other was that Viana has identified the next manager (Maresca) and the manager after him. Everyone assumed that was Vinny but what if that Spanish manager they had approached was Enrique and he said he wasn't ready now but after a few more years at PSG I want to come.

Every manager the sheikh's have hired has won us a title and at least one other trophy. Up the blues
There’s only one Sheikh involved with City. And he’s had no input into anything we’ve done. He literally just owns shares to make money from them, the graft comes from Khaldoon and the execs.

Reckon we need to prepare ourselves for at least a couple of seasons of mediocrity…….
I actually think he'll hit the floor running.

For a start there will be none of this half baked pre season nonsense where the players aren't even fit come the start of the season or even throughout the season.

Plays with inverted full backs so the days of suicidal high defensive lines and no defensive cover may be a thing of the past. Given he's Italian i'm sure defensively we should be a lot more sound.

No we don’t. We just need to prepare ourselves for a many of seasons of normality and remember that the last 10 years were the fantastic exception and definitely not the rule.

If Enzo is City’s next manager he is not here to keep the dugout warm for anyone the intention is for him to be long term absolutely no doubt of that

Wondering if Willy Cabballero will join Enzo as he was with him at Chelsea maybe GK coach
Got a feeling that Ferdy was here today more than just to celebrate Pep maybe joining Enzo Team? Would be great

We do things properly, and I have no doubt that if Enzo Maresca is our man, Hugo Viana will have been working with him and Pep to identify the players who will stay, the players who will go, and the players we will bring in. He will be arriving to a vibrant, youthful squad with a sprinkling of world-class experience and stable leadership. It is everything a new manager could wish for really and he won't be spending his time firefighting because of a lack of diligence upstairs.

That makes no sense.

You don't 'repair a tarnished reputation' by taking on one of the if not the biggest jobs/clubs in football. You take a safer, lower expectation job.

He had offers from Napoli and Juventus, if it was Italy he was after. Wouldn't need City as a stop-gap.

You don't bring in a 45 year old manager with 3.5 years left on his contract elsewhere as a stop-gap. You bring in experienced senior managers where neither the club nor them is after longevity.

Enrique and Kompany were within the last year of their contracts when the club went for Maresca. They went for the less available manager.

There was no wait till the summer, see who is available, hold interviews with a shortlist. They went for one guy and one guy only. Both Txiki and Pep have talked of him as a future City manager for years, before they brought him into the set-up.

Wouldn't be my choice. But he is THE guy the club want, that is fairly damn evident.

Well, I have read he is pretty ruthless and will bomb out players who dont want to fit his style and tactics.

Be interesting to find out who
