The Post Pep Blues?

Bit of a play on words. Have to say I’m feeling very sad today, seeing Pep on the touch line for a final time yesterday hit me like a brick. It’s been coming, it had to happen one day but the end came about so quickly I’m in a state of shock I think. I can’t quite put into words how I feel. Gutted, uncertain, nostalgic, joyful.

Then there’s the other answer to the title question , what will “The Post Pep Blues” be like?

It’s certainly the end of an era, will we go on and win trophies? Will we go the same way as Arsenal after Wenger, Utd after Fergie? I hope not but it’s certainly a real possibility.

Is the next manager a stop gap until a top name becomes available? Kompany?

20 trophies in ten years! We can’t expect that again surely? I think if we get a quarter of that we’ll be doing very, very well.

One thing is for certain. No one will ever live up to, or beat Pep’s record. So we’ll have to be realistic in our expectations and patient with our frustrations.

What are everyone reflections on “The post Pep Blues”?

I want to know who the new coach is.

Even in this uncertainty, I am fairly confident that City will compete for the title next season. We have the 5th youngest squad in the Premier League, and that was with Bernardo and yet this young side did the Cup double and were runners-up. It will evolve.

I also love the new North Stand. Even during a very flat game, it was louder than the South stand.

I'm strangely ok with it, so far today at least. I think now it's done, helped by the wet lettuce of a performance in the second half yesterday, makes me realise we have to move forward. If pep himself is suggesting he's not the best person to get us results and trophies next season, then it's clear for us.

Maresca will have a 3 year deal. Realistically he'll have one year to win something and/or show we are strong contenders. If it's going wrong, results aren't coming and the team aren't pulling for him, then he'll be replaced. If not, then we'll be on course for success.

If, very speculatively, one year on from now we've struggled for top half and are all over the shop, I wouldn't discount pep returning if Enrique or Vinny aren't available. But I have trust that Enzo will work well for us. He got plaudits at Leicester and got a tune out of Chelsea, and look at how both of those basket cases have gone on without him!

pep will never return as manager mate I think he’s burnt out maybe in a few years but definitely not next year.

I think Maresca will be our Bob Paisey. Part of the revolution that propelled our club to the forefront of English football, the players, the staff, the board know him and he knows them. There is an alignment of philosophy and an existing working relationship. The groundwork for Pep was built for years before he arrived and it will remain after he left.

I don't feel sad in the slightest. The man is a legend and always will be. His achievements have been immense and we've seen some of the best football that's been played in this country. However it's time to move on and I think that's plain to see. Next chapter.

We are on page 1 of the next chapter. The reader wants to know who is the new coach, or see it confirmed.

I agree with the premise of your post, however to not feel sad is a bit strange. All good things come to an end, feeling sad is natural.

What is it they say? Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened?

Either way, I’m not sad. All good things come to an end and I think the club will go even more forward with whoever the new man is. It’s not like everything grinds to a halt now Pep has gone. It’s a progression.

I've no issues with people feeling sad, I just don't. I'm happy to have seen what we've seen and am looking forward to what comes next.

My feelings exactly and im genuinely excited again for whats to come.

I think people forget we played some sublime football under Mancini and Pellegrini and we can do it again.

The morning after losing the FA Cup final in 81 to Tottenham was the worst I've ever felt following City. It floored me as a 15 yr old and my world felt like it had come to an end.

Waking up this morning It felt strange that its now all over and it brought back memories of how that 15yr old boy felt. Im now 60 and Manchester City still have the ability to trespass on my emotions.

However this time I don't feel floored and the world hasn't come to an end and yes there is plenty of optimism and expectation for the future. We lost the cup in 81 and there was no winning it back. Yesterday and today we are saying goodbye to our greatest ever decade and manager and it hurts, but the future is still blue!

I'm inconsolable. Stones, Bernardo and Pep in one day. Blokes who got me through those very dark Covid times when I'd just lost my Mum and Dad. They are more than just footballers and a football manager to me. They are truly remarkable human beings who deserve every happiness in life, and the thought of them no longer being around our great club is tearing me up.

Had abit of a cry yesterday watching the after game presentations.

But oddly im find with it, in fact in a strange way im looking forward to the challenges. Feeling more fight in me then I have for a few years.

Pep gave us more then we could have dream of and its been fucking fun. He's bonkers team selections lol. But Pep got us in the same way most of the players got us.

An end of a fantastic era, now the start of a new era. Im looking forward to it but not expecting it to be anything like the Pep era. And im fine with that
