I’m astonished they didn’t get charged for attacking an armed airport Police Officer, they got off with this, and I think this is the more serious offence, that’s all.

Hard to say get off on it when they get charged, convicted on the majority of charges but a jury just couldn't agree on a decision on one of them.

To me, getting off on it would be not charged at all.

Fair enough, I should of said they weren’t convicted of assaulting the armed officer, but my point still stands, imo they got off with the worse offence, no disrespect to the 2 female officers.

During my 25 years in the job I can tell you that there were numerous times, either at Crown court or Mags, that I was convinced a guilty verdict would be found only for the case to crack, some spurious defence to be put forward or some arse of a defence barrister attempt to confuse the jury by pulling threads at irrelevant evidence or the jury fail to find them guilty. Of course its v frustrating but its our system-an old policing saying, 'they'll come again'.

If you have a system of trial by jury you have to accept outcomes. The juries on 2 occasions have failed to agree a verdict so we have to live with it.

unfortunately the decision by the cps is dissapointing but you can't keep having retrials until you get the decision you want.

Should we just have juries of 'folk' who are 'turning' to get the verdicts you want?

Thjs trial was for an attack on a 3rd officer. The jury couldn't agree.

That was all. They haven't got off with anything.

They'll be sentenced at a later date.

No they haven’t one of them had been done for the attacks on the women coppers he is on remand the other one has walked free. Good job it wasn’t the USA they’d be dead now and not a single tear would be shed if you look at that footage.

Apologies, on reflection that was a bad choice of words on my part. My main point still stands though ….getting found not guilty of assaulting a police officer when there is a video of said crime is incredible. Even his first joker solicitor stood down when he saw said video
