Enzo Maresca

It seem likely to me that City are negotiating some kind of settlement with CFC, otherwise Maresca would be in place. We need to make the appointment to push through transfers. At least there is no bad news in this space so that is something.
First he probably is appointed, second appointing him will have nothing to do with negotiating transfers.

He's got to be in the job right now and have his plans already in place if this was planned months ago
It's a fine line, a couple of early losses could see some of the big-name players turn against him very quickly

Pep must remove himself from the club and the new manager, No involvement from Pep or this will end badly and very quickly. Player power or losing the dressing room is because players don't believe in the new manager

Enzo-Maresca is taking over the impossible manager's job, but the one saving grace could be Haaland and finding a system to feed him and get him flying again
This has been planned for a long time, the club know what they're doing, just as they did when Pep replaced Pellegrini.

Discussions over players will have already taken place some time ago. Everything will be set up and ready to roll, but obviously it's going to take some time for everybody involved to get used to a new system, but every player has played for another manager and let's not forget a lot of the staff will know him from his previous stint at club, and he knows the club too whereas any other manager would be a complete unknown.

I don't think the problem is going to be losing the dressing room, I think it's the expectation from the fans that will be the problem, especially the melts on the matchday thread who expect us to win every match 5-0, every trophy, every season.

The immediate issue, if there is one, is how much of a say Chelsea have in this. I'm not sure what the position is there or why he's not a free agent. If he's not they're bound to hold out for as much as they can get out of it.

I hope Pep left because the club learned Iraola would be available and decided to go after him rather than Maresca.
Why? Iraola is untried at a major club. Maresca has not only done well in a short time at two big clubs, yes including Leicester, he knows the club inside out and as he was here during our most successful period he knows what is needed. I think it's a superb appointment, we couldn't get anybody better suited to take over a near-impossible position.

That chelsea team wasn't great. I know people keep thinking that winning a summer friendly cup and the conference league of europe against ajkhyenn_athens and baraggyecth of riga is success - but it really isn't. It doesn't mean he isn't good, but please - can we stop with the idea that those two cups meant anything at all. Also Leicester is not, and never will be, a big club.

If Maresca is confirmed by the club as the next manager he'll already be working for us. There's a difference between when he starts and when it's announced. It's most likely the Chelsea issue that is preventing any announcement, you can't make an announcement if he's officially still employed by another club.

He is becoming our manager he is speaking/spoken to the club about next season and transfers! As long as he is our manager come first day back at the club after summer it doesn’t matter!

Think the main things delaying an announcement are last week was all about Pep, this weekend all about the womens double. I doubt Maresca is still being paid or employed by chelsea along with all the others for doing nothing. They may claim compensation but that won’t delay the appointment.

Totally wrong. You still have to get to the final and do what you have to do to gain those trophies. If he wasn't any good they likely wouldn't have got that far. If they weren't a great side then it's an even bigger achievement.

Nobody is suggesting they're major trophies, but it's about having a winning mentality, that's the point that everybody is missing.

As for Leicester they are a big club compared to many (they were big enough to win the Premier League title), and they were in total disarray when he took over. He cleared out the deadwood and many thought he had made a mistake but he got them promoted with 97 points.

I don't know what the Chelsea position is, just that it keeps coming up. If they've sacked him and he's no longer employed by them in any way I don't see how what he does now has anything to do with them.

If they thought City had tapped him up then surely that should have been dealt with at the time?
