So what cover versions do people reckon are better than the original?

Some to get the thread started:

James Taylor does superb versions of the Drifters' 'Up On The Roof' & Jimmy James 'Handyman'.

It's close between The Lemonheads & Simon & Garfunkel for 'Mrs Robinson'

Patti Smith's 'Gloria' is better than Them's original

The Who - 'Summertime Blues'

Pet Shop Boys - 'Always on My Mind'

The ultimate insult. Wouldn't be seen dead listening to Michael Ball.

Johnny Nash - Guava Jelly (originally Bob Marley)

Blew me away when I heard it on This is England 86, this week.

Clayhill - Please let me get what I want (The Smiths)
