Guy in work on it, lost 2 stone in few months, 2 days a week only drinks water (his fasting days)

I'm using the myfitnesspal app to track my calorie intake/output

Yesterday I ate 2789, burning approx 300 in the gym
Today, 847!

Weighed myself yesterday and I've already lost 1/2 stone doing this and I'm only on my third week.

Found it pretty easy, usually have a banana for breakfast no dinner then use up the rest of the 600 calories for tea.

Started having rice with chicken or fish, but have beans on toast most of the time now so I still enjoy my tea.

I've lost 8lbs since January 2nd. Cut down my calorie intake to between 1250-1500 per day and go to the gym 2-3 times per week, i also walk around 4 miles per day to and from work.

Me and the Mrs are eating a lot healthier now aswell, cut down on unnecessary fat intake and significantly upped our fruit/veg/water intake. The Hairy Bikers did a programme on dieting and the recipes are helping us - http://www.hairybikers.com/recipes?page=1&order=latest&type=all&from=1553&q=

The big thing for me was stopping drinking in the week (10-15 pints). I still drink on one day over the weekend (normally when the blues are playing) but instead of drinking 5-10 pints i will stick to around 3-5 single Gin and Soda's.

At the moment i am doing a lot of Cardio excercies to improve my overall fitness, but i do need to sit down over the next couple of weeks to look at planning a workout schedule that incorporates the weights aswell.

It hasn't been a huge culture shock if im honest, we still eat tasty food and rather than go to the pub i spend more time with my Daughter and a lot more time with Football Manager.

If there is any further advice anyone can offer me then im all ears.

You seem to have nailed the basics Uwe,and with adding a weights routine i reckon you should easily be able maintain your new lifestyle.

Dont go mental just 2 or 3 sessions a week concentrating on the big compound movements - you'll build a strong core, work all muscle groups, raise your metabolism and generally look and feel tons better...!

Cheers for that mate, the Gym (Aquatics Centre) offers free consultation and planning. I think if i can get a schedule nailed down with time related goals, it will become almost second nature.

Since the end of November (last few days) until now, i've lost 1 stone 3 pounds, now apart from Xmas and New Year where I actually put on 6 pounds over just under 2 weeks would people say that is good going? I've dropped a jean size (34) tight, too (32) baggy and apart from cutting cheese and full sugar fizzy drinks from my diet and adding more fruit and veg, i've changed very little else.

I'm hoping to up my cardio to speed it up a notch as i'm trying to get my weight down before I go the other way an try to bulk up but only eating clean. What are the best excercises for losing the belly and tits as they don't seem to shift even with my tshirts and jeans now being baggy!

Fasting and any such restrictive diets will only work in the short term, they dont teach you healthy eating and in a few months you will be back to where you began, when eating try to think natural, only eat stuff that's not processed or has sugar or salt added and you don't go far wrong.

Sometimes, though, short term is all you need. A little period of calorie deficit, and then back to your normal maintenance diet.

Just buy a bike and cycle for an hour every day it will drop off you, put a stone on when living in Cyprus bought a bike in October when back here and its dropped off me, if you like food dieting is a waste of time, exercise is the only way

This has to be the most arse about face nonsense ever posted on here.

I lost 3 stone from Sept to dec by cutting out all booze and eating 1500 - 1800 calories a day.

I couldn't exercise due to arthritis

I wish I was fasting, I am bulking in January and it is a huge pain in the arse to eat 6 or 7 meals a day.

SWP I totally agree I have never been so fed up of chicken and protein. It's worth it but I would love to not eat on a deadline!!

Best of luck,i sacrificed 10 years of my life to such a regime......

and, ultimately, ended up ravaged with injury(physically and mentally)!

What if you cannot do exercise, how do you lose weight then

I weigh 13 stone, about 5 foot 9 so about 20pound overweight. I used to play football twice a week and run two or three times. That was until a year ago when my hip got so bad I cannot run or play football anymore.

I try to use an exercise bike four times a week but I find that boring. I don't eat shit Monday to Friday but at the weekend I have a drink and maybe a three course meal on Saturday.

I need a diet that is easy to do, I lazy when it comes to look it all up etc

It's easily done mate, in actual fact exercise accounts for fewer calories burned than many people think or realise (obviously high end endurance/athletes aside), but you obviously have make sure you're dietary intake alone gives you that calorie deficit, for most people basing their food around plenty of fibrous veg, lean protein, pulses and EFA's will suffice with the odd treat, FI touched on carb-cycling before which is very effective too and worth reading up on.

Have you tried swimming mate ?

pilates is another option. very useful for injured folk strengthen the core also helps burning more calories

Anyone still on a post-Christmas diet?

I still am, despite saying it was just for Jan and Feb. Lost 26 pounds now...seriously not missing bad food or drink anymore.

Intermittent fasting is excellent
I lose weight on it pretty much at will.
6 hour eating window, 18 fasting.
But tbh, unless you have cut calorie to a stupid degree (sub 1000) and can't lose the weight, then you should just calorie count. Its simple and keeps you aware of the bad things you're eating.
