FIFA delegates getting their cummupence! Blatter GONE today.

Damocles is right in all this sorry saga in that UEFA, the FBI, the FA etc etc etc have all known whats been going on for donkeys years but kept quiet because they all still had their little grubby fingers in pies and where part of the money making circle yet as soon as they get their noses pushed out, boom.

Not defending that septic **** Blatter and his cronies but its hardly news all of a sudden that palms were greased to gain huge money making tournaments, with governments in charge at the very heart of it all as well.

Nobody can claim the moral high ground, nobody, us Brits included.
 
The FBI will probably get Blatter on tax evasion. that's usually the charge that sticks to teflon people. I can't wait to see which thieving member of the elite they put in to power at the head of FIFA now so we can all go "Ahh at last we have a change" but deep inside we know that there really hasn't been a change just the facade of a change.
 
Not sure about that. "Knowing" it and being able to prove it are two different things. With a conspiracy the only way to get evidence is from those on the inside of that conspiracy. To do that you need a carrot and a stick which only the USA enforcement agencies have. The stick is long prison sentences for financial crimes and the carrot is plea bargaining which enables you to get a reduction for helping to catch the bigger fish. That's why the American authorities are always the ones that expose the big financial scandals and our FCA and SFO have to piggyback their activities.

Al Capone the 20th century gangster was imprisoned for tax evasion not wholesale murder or drug (alcohol at the time) offences, so this easier method of prosecution has been honed and refined by the FBI.
Legislation has tightened significantly in the USA to enable easier prosecution of racketeering, money laundering etc..

The absence of the need to 'earn' the money in the first place by legitimate methods that have an audit trail and a means whereby the Government sharing in that profit (taxation) step by step is why so much emphasis is placed on tax evasion.
Seemingly, because the USA Government has not received its 'share' from the way it was earned is the offence, or am I reading it incorrectly ?

They would need to 1) replace Blatter and all the other corrupt execs 2) follow some sort of formal process to strip Russia and Qatar of the WC's without leaving FIFA open to multi billion dollar legal claims 3) re-open the bidding process.

By the time they do all of that 2018 and 2022 will be distant memories.

Now that Qatar's Foreign Minister has played the race card, I suspect that they realise that the FBI are getting close to the truth.

Anyway, no way the FBI will find against Qatar. The U.S. needs Qatar. It has its largest base in the middle eastern in Qatar and needs it since Saudi kicked them out.
 
It's probably too much trouble not to play the finals in Russia, which is not ridiculous, and Qatar, which is.

UEFA Awarding France the Euro's recently feels like its gone the FIFA way.

Apart from that I wonder whether Qatar has a tax system being lucky with oil and not needing tax revenue to fund its government and social needs?
If not perhaps any monies 'paid' in that country will not be subject to scrutiny, a bit like working in Dubai.

Still of course the moral issue but perhaps that is not anything that will easily stand up in a USA Court ?
 
I can't see what is wrong with Russia hosting the World Cup. They've been part of world football at international level since day 1, near enough.
They are due their chance. Sure there are political/racial issues, but that can be said of most places.
