TH has said very little on this one since he orginally said we may go for him...the last thing was that we had been guests of his agent but thats it......unless this is being handled very very quietly and is just getting overlooked by the press etc as there are more high profile transfer battles going on?

edit: he has just said in the main thread that he wouldnt be surpised to see him still come to us

while all that is brilliant, i wouldnt believe uts for one second over anything they say...they could have denied interest in the vain hope they will not publically lose out to us if he does come to us......its all about trying to maintain their image and not be seen as being less powerful than they once were (which they undoubtedly are!)

This is the weirdest transfer I've ever seen. Does anybody actually know anything? Other than he's coming to the prem?

'Van Gaal against the Oil-Sheikh' Bild say Man United in bitter bidding war
German newspaper Bild explain on Monday that Manchester United's Louis van Gaal is entering into a battle with Manchester City to sign Roberto Firmino of Hoffenheim. The claims are as tabloid as tabloid gets and Bild are clearly trying to up the ante and create a big story.

They say things like 'HOT ON FIRMINO: VAN GAAL AGAINST THE OIL-SHEIKH' and 'The poker for Hoffenheim's Super-Star is very hot' and 'In England a bitter battle is raging for the best of Hoffenheim'.

There is nothing about a fee being agreed, something which has been reported elsewhere over the past few days. Bild say Hoffenheim will want at least a €30m transfer fee. The most recent Firmino rumours started from Brazil and then quickly spread their way around the world's transfer rumour mill. Manchester United and Manchester City have been linked repeatedly and both have met the player's agents over the past few months, we believe with the effort coming from the agents rather than the clubs.

Bild say on Monday that the battle for Firmino is between Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. They believe because of the finances involved that the Manchester clubs would have to be considered the favourites.

That can all probably be disregarded, it sounds like Bild just having some fun. What is most interesting is a quote from one of Firmino's Rogon agents Roger Wittmann "I can only say that he moves to England."

FIRMINO 'HEADING TO ENGLAND'

The agent of Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino has confirmed his client will be moving to England next season.

Roger Wittmann, who represents the 23-year-old, would not confirm where the striker's exact destination was - although he has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United.

"All I can say is that he's moving to England," Wittmann told Germany's BILD.
 
Does anyone think that the guys at our end are waiting so we tie all our target all up at the same time? Like some sort of giant show of power? Just a bit wierd how it's an 'unknown club'
 
I am guessing either we want a big joint announcement, or we are waiting for replacements for other clubs to be sorted so that they don't get ripped off, by clubs knowing we have paid them up front.

If it was the rags they would be shouting from the roof tops,if it was us I think there is no reason to hide the fact.
Where as if it was Liverpool waiting to unvail him as their Marquee signing to replace sterling ?
