I think we can say with confidence that... Sterling won't be having any changes of heart and go crawling back to the dippers :-)
 
All i'm saying is if Sterling is a player the club want desperately then an extra 5 million is nothing to secure it. Obviously you wouldn't do it with every player.

We don't like being called a Sugar Daddy club, and expect to be taken seriously.
To do that, the balance sheet matters.
If we're going to be a credible (but huge) football club, we have to practice what we've been preaching, and that's running the club as a genuine business, not running to the Sheik every time we need a few more million.
And FFP's not gone away (yet). We can't spend as much as we want. We can spend a lot, but it's not limitless. 5m spend on Sterling could be 5m we can't spend on Pogba. So which do you choose then?

Not a flap, just a reality. If - for whatever reason - we fail in any other of our rather slow, rather public courtships except Pogba (which was always 50/50), I excpect his head will be on the block.

Not exactly the same scenarios, but Real and Barca met the requested fees when it came to Bale and Suarez. They didn't feel that meeting the asking price made them look a soft touch. They just got the deals done.

But those 2 have greater incomes, and FFP is not so harsh for them.
