Really like the look of him, confident and composed on the ball and a sense of urgency when playing the ball out from the back.

He's definitely gonna be a great player, got every attribute to make it at highest level.

One thing that really excited me about this game, he made Mangala look more assured playing with him, than when he played with Kompany.

He is currently our number 1 defender, if he doesn't start next week it is a joke. Don't care who starts next to him, Mangala and Kompany as bad as each other but he HAS to start.

has to start , to be fair to kompany and mangala haven't played with each other that much and towards the end it was demi and mangala who did pretty well

Really impressed with him today. Looked like the only defender who is remotely comfortable on the ball & does not brick it when it goes anywhere near him & just kicks seven bells out of it.

Interesting Pellegrini took Kompany off and not Mangala at half time today. I can't see him dropping Kompany for the first game of the season so I'd at least like him to partner Denayer and not Mangala. Denayer has more than shown he is ready.

Agreed. A break from the team mightn't be bad thing for Vinnie at the moment, who looks a pale imitation of the 11/12 player. Taking Hart out of the team in 13/14 did him no harm. Denayer and Mangala to start at the Hawthorns

Looks like such a complete player considering his age. No surprise he's already broken into the international team.

Kompany and Mangala are too similar for me. Both play better with Demi but Denayer is the future. Calm, composed on the ball and crucially doesn't dive in at every opportunity.

I think he should be in the starting 11 v the baggies.
It would be a huge call for Pellegrini to drop VK so expect Mangala to be the one to miss out.

I thought he looked pretty poor against Madrid and had a bad first half hour against Vietnam, but he looked a lot more settled today. Him and Mangala looked to have a much better understanding, switching sides and filling in for each other pretty seemlessly. As long as the ball is on the floor I think he's excellent, his marking and positioning from crosses looks like it still needs a lot of improvement (not needed today)

Alongside Sterling, Denayer was our best player today, maybe Denayer was THE best. So calm and collective in defence, hardly ever makes a mistake, very impressive for a 20-year old. If Pellegrini doesn't play Denayer against West Brom, he's absolutely deluded, Denayer is by far our best defender at the moment.

Will he look assured next to VK? That's the big problem.

It'll be telling if our defence is a shambles against WBA and Vinny's in the starting lineup because last season we looked more assure without him and today Mangala and Denayer looked a lot better.

If he looks assured next to Mangala then he'll look assured next to Kompany.
