Rony Lopes

No De Bruyne replaces Nasri and Nasri leaves for a starting place elsewhere ala Sanchez at Barca, you need a balanced squad, Nasri may get shifty with a lack of games. Lopes then comes in and plays sporadically like Nasri will this season if De Bruyne signs. This whole proven bullshit wears thin man, how can anyone prove themselves without a chance. So if Lopes does displace Nasri, you still keep Nasri? Sell him whilst he still has value now and move on with De Bruyne and Sterling being the new attacking outlets. With all that bring said, this could end up happening next season if Lopes signs a new contract and goes out on loan.
Lopes may choose to stay at City & see if he gets any game time. If he gets a chance, he might sign, if not, go on a free. That's what I'd do. If City then prefer to cash in now, then that's upto them. But I can't see why they would list him as part of the first team, on the OS, if he's going.

I was referring to cashing in on Nasri with KDB replacing him and giving Lopes the back up role, hopefully that would entice him to sign on. But ye I agree there, he'll probably Genuinely do what Milner claimed to be doing last season, see how it goes and then decide.

This report is from L'Equipe. Which has had Eden Hazard off to PSG more times than I can remember.

And speaking of PSG, unless it is they who are turning Lopes' head he isn't going to get a fraction of the wages signing in France than he would here.

So this sounds to me like agent/L'Equipe bollocks. Probably toward an end game of him extending here and then going on loan.

It's obvious why. They are still trying to convince him to stay. What good would ostracising him do?

That's certainly what it's always sounded like. He wants to play for us, but more importantly he wants to play. If he doesn't get game time this year then you can't really begrudge him leaving, as he really should be getting games. I'd be gutted if we lost Lopes because we prefered playing Navas or Nasri, it would be a real slap in the face to the academy

If that's the case shouldn't we be flapping because Denayer and Nacho aren't listed as squad members on the OS?

I'll be gutted if he leaves as he's a player I've followed since he came to the EDS and, as well as the obvious talent, he seems really mature and to have a terrific work ethic. But, as others have said, we have a plethora of young, attack minded midfielders coming through the ranks who are arguably already at his level despite being younger. He seems to play from a deeper position but Manu Garcia really looks to be something special and stands a better chance of going on to have the same impact that I once hoped Rony would have.

Why is it a slap in the face for the academy, he has to be better than the current owners of the 1st team shirt

Disappointing news but at this stage it is too much of a risk to lose Nasri than keep Lopes imo. And besides that if he isn't prepared to sign a new deal there isn't much more the club can do.

I like the look of Lopes but I have not seen anything to convince me that he will ever surpass Nasri as a player.

It would be a slap in the face if we signed a striker and another central defender imo.

Because he's been championed as the example for them all to follow, he's proven that he's capable of playing first team football, so if he leaves without even being given a chance it just lets all the other kids know that it doesn't matter what they do, they probably still won't get a chance.

Where has he proven that, he has to be good enough and all the academy player know that

But what does nasri/navas add to the team that rony cant. Nasri is always passing the ball to either toure or his fullbacks and navas cant even get a cross into the penalty box. Sell either of them and give the young lad a realistic chance at first team football and he will agree a long term deal.

He started week in week out for Lille. He knows that if he was at another club he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet. How is he or any of the other academy players supposed to prove that they're good enough if they don't get given a chance?

We are not Lille he's has to prove to the manager in training he is a better bet than whoever he is replacing, we are in the business of trying to win the league etc every academy player knows they will be given the chance if good enough

I agree with you on that. The likes of Iheanacho, Denayer, Garcia, and Roberts seem to have impressed Pellegrini more.

Do they fuck. That's not the message it sends when you don't give the players chances

Apart from they are listed.

But flap if you want.
