Got a new one the other day, galaxy s5. Chuffed with it. Whilst I was looking though considered my options, and being able to replace the battery seems to be quite rare. For me that's a deal breaker. Why is there this current trend of not being able to do that? It's why I choose the s5 over the s6 or a similarly priced sony or an lg or even an iphone. And, the capably of using an sd card was a factor too so forget Apple. But still. Batteries have a lease of life. If you use them plugged in over time they burn out and die. Why restrict the end user from replacing it? Don't get it.

Built in obsolescence I believe it's called.

I'm not too fussed on tech now I'm a skint father of 2 ;) .... but the Microsoft Lumia 640 is f*cking ace for £90 on o2 PAYG if anyone has younguns that want a big phone, big battery and future proof(due Windows 10 Update later this year). Also get office for 1 year.

I got the S6 and have to say it's one of the best phones I've had.
Lots of storage, top camera and comes with a fast charger.
Recommend it if people need a new phone.

Looking at getting a Galaxy A5 when my renewal comes up, mostly because I'm not paying 40/month for 2 years like these crooks want.

Cyanogen is the best Android.

We'll see. Software like this tends to run in cycles and the more prudent measure is always a wait and see attitude towards it before putting it something as critical as your main phone.

The worst possible thing any piece of software can do is release to the mass market when it is still immature and potentially a pain in the arse to configure.

Built in obsolescence and cheaper to manufacture as there are less parts that can break, plus you can squeeze a tiny bit more size into the battery if you dont have people being able to change them.

Can I buy a new battery for the Samsung s4? had it for 18 months now and the battery is draining quicker and quicker
Yep, it's called a Samsung standard S4 battery (2600 mAh) and you can pick them up off Amazon for around £4 or £5 is you shop around a bit.
