Racial abuse on train?

In a crowd of thousands you will get some

In my experience most people don't say what they think. They are too careful to express their views in public most of the time. Football fans aren't as shy and it doesn't bother me, because unlike most people I don't think it is a reflection of good or bad people but good and bad ideas which people take on board from the wider world.

If you can confront the argument but it's not easy. People don't like being humiliated in front of their mates.

Yep, they are definitely the problem. Because 5 years ago an airline screwed them over and then now their young son has been hassled by drunk people on a train. What cunts. Victim blaming is fun
You're right mate, no chance they're United fans, definitely Dippers.

I have heard from a good source that the Transport Police are very keen to designate all the after match trains back from London as 'dry' trains for the remainder of our season (on Saturday this was all trains after 3pm).
There seemed very little justification for this before this story broke.
Call me cynical.

Ive always found city fans police themselves quite well. I know for a fact if any of the lads we go with started picking on a 14 year old, never mind racially, they would get a bit of a slap and a word.
I cant imagine a carriage full of people just sat there whilst it went on? Is there any footage of the culprits?

nope, i wasnt there. my comment is as valid as yours - i.e. not at all!

but there is a trend for people to call out those who speak up for themselves and yet take 90% of the trash they read in the papers as truth. bit selective.

Agree mate nobody knows the truth! So lets just see if true if it is then they need locking up! But as I said I think the truth might have exaggerated!

Was there no-one from BM, or does no-one from BM know anyone, who was in that carriage? I remember the infamous blond slapping incident a few years ago and people were soon rounded up to give a version of events.

Yea I remember that incident and people involved came on BM.

We do tend to police ourselves rather well, no doubt.
I go to aways often, anytime a blue has stepped out of line or something (usually after being too drunk)
Other blues have tended to calm situations.

On Saturday the train we got (18.20) from Euston was supposed to be a dry train, but fans were carrying bags of booze onto the train without being challenged. They were able to drink on the train as not once did the transport police or train officials come down the carriages, they appeared to take the easy approach and let everyone get on with it.

If as suggested it was happening all the way back to Manchester, that's a good few hours in a carriage full of people in an age where everybody has a phone and nobody thought to film it? If it's true, they'll surely get caught and hopefully punished severely for it.

Drinking is no excuse...booze doesn't turn you into a racist

I revert back to my original post

It is stories like this that shows how difficult the fight against racism is. Incidents like this can happen in any walk of life and when you see that fans of our own club are involved it saddens the most hardcore of fans. City have always been and will always be a multi cultural club where everyone is treated equally and all the fans I have met over the past 30 years welcome that.

The story has so many holes in it

“The carriage was full of Manchester City fans who were drunk" so basically all of the other 46 passengers in that carriage were all MCFC fans and everyone of those 46 were drunk.

“We were sat on the outside of [the boys], we feel like we have to shield them.” really or was it more the fact as all kids do they wanted a window seat and it is easier to look after them by the window.

Oh and that is one fucking strange family picture. Put it this way I wouldn't have them 2 baby sitting my kids.

I'm very surprised if true...thought this nonsense had been stamped out of City years ago

Always saddens me...considering our roots in Moss Side and the fact we had one of the first integrated firms back in the day

You only have to read some of the Muslim/religion/immigrant threads on here to know we have some fuckin horrible cunts following us
As I guess most clubs do too...

Just realised I was on the 6pm coming back and I didn't come across that many pissed up blues. But saying that I only managed to get 3 pints in after the game due to the laborious walk to seven sisters. 50 year old blokes pissed on the 6pm train some of you soft fuckers cant handle your drink.

I think some blues should be ashamed for their reactions here, if this ends up being true then a lot of people will end up looking like cunts for abusing a family that's just had their 14 year old child racially abused by a bunch of mindless wankers.

Back to the story, all the police need to do is check the carriages CCTV as every virgin train is fitted with them.

I think most football fans that go to away games know what's on the right side of acceptable and what isn't - plenty of us like a good piss-up at an away day and that can lead to some raucous behaviour but we know where the line is and if this happened then it's so far beyond the pale that anyone trying to defend it needs to have a word with themselves. Of course, I've no idea what the real truth is behind this incident and the fact that the family has been in the news before perhaps adds weight to the argument that it may have been "over-egged". From my own personal experience, I remember being on the tram back from the Allianz Arena into Munich city centre a couple of seasons back after our 3-2 win against Bayern and suddenly a City fan started screaming into the face of a female Bayern fan "Where were you when you were shit?". This went way beyond the kind of banter you get inside a football ground and a couple of us stepped in straight away.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

From the comments section - I've no issue with the first couple of sentences but as it continues it just sounds like a general hatred of football fans:

"If this is true then these vile scum should be hunted down, publicly shamed and brought to justice. It amazes me how a minority of football fans,,grown men,,yes grown men can act in such a bullying and moronic fashion. I saw it last Saturday on Deansgate. Grown men in their 30s and 40s marauding and chanting.. I assume their wives dont let them play out much.

I hope this family can put this trauma behind them and write it down to drunkeness and ignorance..well done to all the cowards and fellow football fans who stood by and allowed this to happen."
