I've no doubt we have some racists amongst our support and if it's true in this case and they are identified then they should be banned. But it's the way the MEN report it that gets me.

Another thing they all had in common on that train was that they were all Virgin passengers, so it could have said 'drunken Virgin passengers racially abuse 14 year old boy'. They want to create the association between 'racist' and 'football supporters' for effect, and on this occasion Man city supporters in particular.

Racists are racists and yes, some of them will support City and some of them wil no doubt shop at Waitrose and read the Daily Mail.

True, but I do think there's a few people struggling with a persecution complex in this thread. At the end of the day, the people they're talking about were all on that train together because they were city fans on their way back from a city game and that's how the story would be reported for any set of fans. I saw a bunch of spurs fans behaving like nobs on a virgin train last season and when I got home I didn't tell my flatmate that my journey had been ruined by a bunch of virgin train customers acting like twats, I told him that id come across some dickhead spurs fans.

You do realise that not all Asians are Muslim? There are Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Anglicans, Catholics, Zoroastrians, Taoists, Bahais, Zains and even a few Jews.

City fans on the whole are great but take any demograph and you will find a proportion that are racist/ bigots etc. That unfortunately includes city fans. I remember in the mid to late 80's going to places like Leicester and a rather large proportion of our support chanting " a town full of pakies ", and other delightful ditties. Shit like this has no place at football nor indeed society. And if this is proved to be true and city fans were indeed responsible, ban them for life. Thankfully racism and bigotry seems to be dying out. But we can't be complacent.

On my last train joinery a guy got arrested for been abusive to the staff , cops got called and we had to wait about 20 mins till the cops arrived, I'm calling it a made up story

Good post mate. It's ridiculous that some people think City fans are incapable of being dickheads. Every club has some bellends in their support, and I've seen a fair few at City over the years.

Whilst I have no doubt that we have our fair share of cretins that also happen to support City - I am equally certain that if there was a train carriage full of City fans, it is highly improbable that every single one of them would stand idly by whilst a child was treated in this way by a bunch of pissed-up twats.

Something happened, it's just the extent of what happened that has yet to be established. A carriage full of pissed up blues I can believe. Some pissed up bellend racially abusing them is also believable. So is them embellishing the extent of the abuse.
I'm not living in pixie land, I know we have racist fans and I know we have drunks and idiots who follow us. However, innocent until proven guilty is still a belief we should stand by.
If anyone is found guilty of what they have been accused. I hope they feel the full force of the law. Furthermore, I hope they get life bans from City.
Until then I'm keeping my mind open.

I remember an incident away against Sheff Utd 90/91 season. It was an Asian ref in charge, and a voice behind me screamed in my ear " take no shit off a p*** Whitey", as White was reprimanded by him. It definitely has existed over the years.
