No fucking about with the defence. Strongest team possible. Three points is a must.

Same team as the one that played Seviila for me but with maybe De Bruyne coming in, although I think maybe a week off could do him good in the long run as he looked tired against Norwich.

If we start messing around with the team because we think it's an easy game we will end up getting punished for it. Let's not forget Villa will get the inevitable new manager boost tomorrow!

Pellegrini has said he's not been able to rotate much recently because of injuries but made it clear he wants to rotate. We're playing bottom of the league tomorrow. I expect some rotation where possible. Clichy to come in, Maybe Mangala too.

I don't mind him changing the team if there's a purpose to it, a tactical reason. We changed the team for the Sevilla match and produced a great performance. So I'm not sure changing the team is a managerial crime in itself. This is a tricky game for us to prepare for though because we don't know what Garde is going to do tactically.

Villa will have the energy and passion of 16 year olds today, they'll be right up for it. That's what we need to combat. I'm sure the manager and players will be aware of that and set up to counter it.

Absolutely. If we were at home then maybe.

The system we played in Seville worked superbly but it should only be used sparingly. It worked largely because Fernandhino had a phenomenal game. A magnificent mix of skill and dynamism. But its completely unrealistic to expect him to play to that level every week. He would be clapped out by February if he tried. He could only really be expected to reach those physical levels half a dozen times a season.

and we played a team that came at us.that dosnt happen often

The Richards/Lescott CB partnership should be ripe for the picking as we'll know their strengths and weaknesses.
The Garde factor could be an issue but has he had time to impact the team to the degree needed to cause an upset?

No doubt they'll give it their best shot and play with great heart but surely class will out eventually?

no point to rest the team with international break ahead. select the best 1st eleven for this game.

Watched Micah a fair bit this season out of interest and his positional sense at centre half is woeful. We need to get Sterling sitting on his shoulder waiting for him to break his defensive line.

I'd play

Clichy Mangala/Otamendi Kompany Sagna

Fernando Fernandinho

Sterling KDB

Bony Iheanacho

Bring Yaya, Navas and Delph later on to close the game.
