After recent events in Paris i think it would be a good idea for fans to contact the club and urge them to step up security.

Pat downs bag checks etc.

All sports stadia in America have it so it must be workable.

Yes it will take longer to get in but safety comes first.

Maybe now the stewards will be looking for back packs etc now so may leave the smokers on the spirals and toilets in peace now, actually do a proper security job like, just saying

Iv just relocated to 318 this season after having 3 seasons in the family stand...........every time I go inside the stadium I take a small city bag with my lads drinks n crisps snacks etc...It really did concern- bemuse me how often going into the family stand how many of the stewards waved you in ,especially during the winter months when its cold without looking inside .and even when they did the didn't look -feel inside proper just a casual inspection.318 this season is a bit tighter but not much better than the family stand in my opinion

like the op said,it'll take longer to get in, but i know Id prefer it that way if it increases our safety etc

This is one of the aims of the terrorists, no doubt: creating an atmosphere of fear and, more importantly, popular support for a police state.

So you would rather let someone in with a live grenade for example or a quick check beforehand ?
I'd rather have the security measures in some reasonable perspective. An attempt was made to bomb a stadium in Paris, so all English stadia now need extra security measures? Multiple restaurants and a concert venue were attacked as well, do we now need extra security at every pub and theatre too?

in Paris the suicide bombers were hoping to get into the stadium with their vests to do it inside and hurt and kill a lot more people. The steward saw this vest but the terrorist exploded it then killing himself and the steward who saw the vest.

If he didn't see the vest and let him we could be looking at a higher number of deaths.

I think security should be stepped up checks and stewards actually looking at people who may stand out instead of chatting to the other steward about what he did this week.

After the London bombings there was a lot of talk about beefing up security on the London Underground. It never happened. Commuters were prepared to accept the risk of further bombings rather than have to put up with the disruption and inconvenience that would have been caused.

Ok so we just carry on and do nothing ?

I for one would like to see it stepped up, if you dont then fair enough.

I think you just have to weigh the probability of an EPL stadium being targeted against the inconvenience to the fans. And IMHO that's something for the league to consider in cooperation with the appropriate government authorities.

Not saying anyone should gamble with human lives, mind. Did you consider stopping flying to away games after the recent airline disasters? Didn't think so.
