Wouldn't it be nice if one or two of our superstars played through the pain for a change.

Where have all the men gone.

Man up and play the game.

I'm sure we have players carrying injuries that are playing at the moment and look at the pelters
the team is getting. I'm sure you'd be bemoaning how shit they were.

If any one has played the game at a decent level , i would say most play at least 50% of games , carrying a knock or a strain , but modern players are fine tuned athletes , and invariably the final decision is out of their hands , the medical team and manager decide if you play or not. As for telling players like Vinny to "man up" , i will leave that to someone else , i value my health , he is probably the most frustrated person in the club at the moment

Couldn't agree more. Today's players are almost brainwashed into thinking they are injured by those self justifying Sports Science experts! Every bloody game somebody is either not playing or hooked off after 60 minutes, regardless of the game situation, due to these supposed physiological know it alls !

And what good does this philosophy achieve?; well clearly sweet F.A.! And before any Sports Scientist hiding in the corner of this forum starts blurting their self justifying tosh, they first need to explain how Brian Clough managed to get his Nottingham Forest team to play a 42 game league season in 76-77, on grassless lumpy mud, and use ony 14 outfield players.

The thing is however, it's not just the Sports Scientist and their crazy GPS monitoring. Sadly you cannot but help some of the players are starting to milk this whole over cautious mindset to their own benefit.

As the OP clearly says, it's time for some of these individuals and the support staff to grow a pair and start doing what you're paid to do; put your personal interest behind that of the club occasionally, even if it does mean taking that ever so dramatic step of playing through a little bit of pain for their 7 figure salary!

Without knowing the nature of injuries it's stupid to start talking about players malingering.

If anything I'd prefer a cautious approach, one of the main cause of injury is overplaying or playing players that arent fully ready to play.

When clubs had smaller squads players were 'obliged' to play through injuries. I can't believe it still happens but even through the 90's players would rely on cortisone injections to get them through games and would have them at half time if necessary. You've only got to look at those guys today and see the effect that has had on them. New hips, new knees, arthritis, legs you could drive a bus through, most ex players carry some reminders of playing through the pain barrier.

Haha! Reminds me of pub team managers on a Sunday morning after one of their players have been scythed down.
"Oi, get the fuck up you soft ****, I don't care if you're ankles hanging off just get stuck the fuck in!"

Ha if this was created by an adult I seriously despair
Klopp has said the same thing about Sturridge. He basically called him a soft **** last week who needs to get a grip of reality of what pain is.

He should kick him in the bollocks really hard just to give him an idea.

Pat Nevin made an interesting comment last week. He said playing on modern pitches, that look so good on the television, was like playing "on concrete". He considered the pitches had a significant effect on why we get more injuries in the modern era, than the days of the soft muddy pitches.

That was said after a full medical diagnosis couldnt identify an injury. Not after a loss when anyone that didnt play was identified as a soft ****.

They are modern day footballers, they all are!
