CL Last 16 (Dinamo Kiev) (NO City away fans) (24 feb and 15 mar)

If City think this is an easy tie they are making a huge mistake. Kiev played in 3 Champions league semi finals. They have loads of experience and could make things very awkward for us. Don't forget in European games their is diving, cheating, playacting and the refs lap it up. Park the bus in Kiev (well at least a mini bus) and hit them on the break. 0-0 away will be a fantastic result.

Rubbish!!

It's Dynamo Kiev not Bayern Munich. We should go there aiming to score, a score draw is by far a better result than a 0-0. Add to the fact that it will be behind close doors and they are a team who are on par with CSKA Moscow then we should be putting them to the sword.

The first half of CSKA away a few years ago was one of our best CL performances. We need to dictate the game from early on and try and score as many as possible. What we cannot do is repeat the same mistakes as last time and if we manage to get a 1-0 or 2-0 lead then we need to protect it.

I'd feel much more comfortable with them coming to the Etihad having to score. Our team is a sucker for the counter attack and anything we can do to counter this we should do.

I 200% agree with you. While the confidence in the City team and the fans may be sky high due to this draw, you'd have to look at the other end of the stick. Dynamo Kiev's manager, their players and fans all seem to be very happy they drew City as Kiev's manager branded City "one of the weakest teams" to be seeded. I would say it's fixtures like this, or the Wolfsburg Gent fixture, that satisfy both teams. We also can't forget Ukrainian sides have one of the best records against English. Recently Kiev thumped Everton and Shakhtar beat Chelsea to a 2nd spot in a group. All to play for here.

Look up Dynamo Kiev and their history. Decades ago, they were on par with Bayern Munich, even better. They were considered the best team in Eastern Europe and were considered among the elites like Munich, Real, Milan, Liverpool, etc. Same thing cannot be ever said about City.

City have not looked amazing in their 6 CL games, 2 games they lost to Juventus. I'd say only one game would be considering "intimidating" to Kiev, which was Sevilla away. Let's be honest, City just about beat a poor German opposition home and away. So City aren't an invincible team and I would like if you reduce this cocky attitude.

History means fuck all. City, with the money spent should be looking to batter Kiev in both games, but we won't. We'll do our usual plod around the pitch and make it difficult for ourselves. Would love to be proven wrong though

For posterity.

And 30 years i was a north Manchester lothario with more trim than an escort xr3i but times change now i'm just a middle aged pisscan and City are now a team of the future and while of course it will be a tough test against Kiev if we play to our capabilities we are the better team and will get through that's just fact.

What a genuinely great draw for City! If we can get past Kiev, imagine getting Gent/Wolfsburg/Benfica/Zenit in the Quarters!! Ok, on their day they are good teams, but in the Quarters of the CL, they are dream opposition. So many games where two big teams face each other. Perfect for City. Thank you UEFA! :)

Don't be daft. They're just delaying the inevitable. Barca or Bayern in the quarters ;-)

I understand Kiev aren't even a quarter of the side they used to be back in the 80s and 90s, but some City fans need to show some respect to the opposition. We all want to go through to next round but we don't want to be like Arsenal, after the Monaco tie, acting as if we are through already.
