Sky TV is going....

Update...

Well I have been on live chat and basically said that I have had a letter through my door saying that they will offer 60% off and cash back of £50 (was really just 50% off). Anyhow they corrected me with it is 50% off and £50 cash back, that is the only offer that they are doing.

I told them I would only be interested in 60% off deal and they said they can't, so I told them I will continue with my cancelation.

I am going to stick with it and fight for more, if I don't get it well they can do one :)

After gaining a bit of confidence in the technology (mostly from guys on here who have used non-sky boxes for a while it seems), I've ordered a zgemma twin tuner with 500gb hard drive which should arrive on Weds. £180 with the 12 month gift. I'll let people know how I get on with it.

what is this? thinking of getting rid of sky too.

Remember tell them you've been kicked out as your wife found you in bed with her brother.... Stops them passing your call around for a hour speaking to staff offering you deals to stay.
Top man - going to make the call today, so may even enrich that story a little!

When they've tried everything you will get a call off someone in 'retentions' who will tell you they have the power to offer the best discount available. That is your last chance.

Bought an openbox v8s for Christmas with the gift type thing. Freezes sometimes on the 'gifted' channels. Is this normal behavior?

If not, can anyone recommend (by PM) a good alternative server type thing?

Cheers peeps.

Got one too. Came last Monday. You even get setanta sports and they have one 3pm ko a week on it. Was £165 and £8 delivery. £50 a year afterwards. All you need is broadband and a sky dish.

Have a look online for zgemma h.s2

I've seen on ebay Latest edition black now tv 2 box with 18 months plex. Says it is ready to go with all HD movies, sports etc for £90.

Is this box any good?

I wouldn't do this, a FireStick needs a fast internet and is basically just SmartTV which is NetFlix, Youtube, Sky News, it does not include any channels and you still have to pay for Netflix too. Everything on it you either have to pay for or you can get it free elsewhere anyway.

The stupidest thing about it is they advertise it as though Clarkson's new program will come with it, it won't, you still need to pay for Amazon Prime. Total waste of money if

Flash kodi to it easy peasy all channels go to off topic Xbmc kodi if your struggling.

Just done the deed and cancelled Sky.

Told them my marriage had broken down (it hasn't) and needed to get rid, that way they didn't try to keep hold of me.

Sorted. Next stop Virgin Fibre.

Is any of this stuff HD? Pay a lot for Sky, got everything, but if there's a cheaper way...

I think you're in the same boat as me. Is there a box that can get Sky Sports HD + BT Sports HD, with a hard drive for recording, that is just plug and play, no tech knowledge required, for about £150, then £50 a year. Films and Discovery if available but not essential.

Thanks

A box with Kodi loaded around £70 gives you all you need. I have a Droidbox and a £30 Firestick on the TV in the front room. Gives me everything I need.Don't think you can record though as I am not a Teccy

i have the same box and the same issues sometimes. With me its down to my inconsistent internet signal. im with BT but in a rural spot where my internet sometimes "drops" out for a while. sometimes just a few seconds but occasionally its down for 20 minutes or so, usually when the pissing footy is on! But its only costing me £30 a year for all the channels so i cant complain too much.
