Sam Cowan probably deserves a mention. Tony Book until recent years is our most successful/ decorated captain. I'm not sure if that has been surpassed by Kompany at this time, one more league/ European title and most likely the answer would be yes

Way back in the 1960`s City had fuck all to spend but without doubt the money we paid for TB was one of the best ever transfer fees ever paid for someone who had never ever played at this level.Skip proved that he was the finest ever Captain who took us from virtually non obscurity (as we were at that time) to First Division Champs,FA Cup Winners,European Cup Winners and League Cup winners within a five year period.

Future hindsight may put Vincent on top, and when in his pomp he deserves to be... but the 2 of them should tie this prize, and really Vinnie should just give it to skip ;)

Absolutely. He was (and still is) totally respected by his peers and the players that served under him and he never, ever once let us down. Had it not been for Swales, he could have been our own Ferguson, as he also had a ruthless side to him.

I wish Zabaleta could be given the chance to lead the side but he's not even playing enough games. Better him than YaYa or Kolarov or Hart if VK isn't playing.
 
anyone who fully understands City would always go with Skip. Most decorated captain to this day and as others say lifted our profile. Had the guts to manage the team he captained and still works hard to promote the club
