Bersant Celina and the EDS lads...

sorry Jesus ;) in all honesty I can't think of one thing (bar experience) that Navas could have on Barker
I take it then your watching the u21 derby? A young playing learning his trade who is frankly light years behind someone like Navas.

i'd love to mate, unfortunately in work atm what i'm saying is what does Navas offer that Barker couldn't right now? I know that he's not played many senior games (only 1 or 2 I think) but why does that make him lightyears away from Navas? one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen with City is Navas being given the ball out right, the opposing full back stand in front of him, he then duly shits himself and passes back to Sagna, this then happens 3 or 4 times in the match before he changes his mind once or twice to pass to Toure instead, when was the last time Navas, a winger, took on his man? At least Barker could go out and play with no fear, attack his full back, i'd rather him or Navas lose the ball trying to beat a man than just keep passing for the sake of it because he's too afraid to try something.

Woeful display. Just like the 1st team. Over passing, slow to get it forward and an isolated striker.

I'd love barker to make it- truth is he's gone backwards the last year. Navas offers far more than that-yes he can frustrate but we sure miss his work rate, ball retention, ability to carry the ball and defensive cover.

Navas frustrates me because it's clear to see he has the ability, and he does a job well in a defensive sense but we don't play that way anymore, maybe under Mancini in the season we finished 3rd he'd have had more joy, it just amazes me that none of the coaching staff have just told him take on his man and see what happens. This is why, for me, you may as well throw in the likes of Barker, Celina, Bytiqi or whoever, a good run of appearances in the first team might just galvanise them, give them the light at the end of the tunnel they need.

Angelino and Humphreys stand a chance

I've got more chave than Angelino and I'm 48. He piss slow and has no physical presence. Good left foot yes, but that's about it. In fact anyone who has witnessed that tonight will realised that we are a long way from producing anything that would improve our ever ageing first team squad and that is an absolute fact.

Navas frustrates me for not committing his man, but neither does Sterling anymore. I therefore wonder whether Navas is doing what he thinks is best or what he's been told to do?

Angelino impressed me. Either way it was a good lesson for them do play against an organized defence and it also shows that they aren't in the same bracket as Navas as some have said. *yet*

You're awfully melodramatic for a 48 year old then, you sound like a teenage girl. It was one kids game ffs.

It was just like watching the 1st team, it was only at the end when they pressed the game that we looked decent. For me the only player that will make the 1st team on tonights performance is Tosin and maybe Aleix Garcia.

To start with 3 or 4 of those lads in the first team would be fuckin suicide

Several of those players would not look out of place among first teamers, look at Manu Garcia.

Not much came off for Celina, but guess what, the other day he got an assist for the first team out of nothing. Under a better manager that could have been an assist for an equalising or winning goal.

Tonight's game doesn't prove or disprove anything, yet sadly many people will make judgements of players and the youth setup at the club based on those 90 minutes, particularly if that's the first youth game they've watched in a while.

Our best eds players aren't playing for the eds at present, they are out on loan.

Was working last evening so just watched the recording. Overall a disappointing performance which like recent first team games lacked any sense of urgency in the play.

I thought Tosin played well, Angelino was playing much deeper than usual so wasn't as effective going forward. Seemed a waste of Celina's creative ability to play him as a central striker, when he did drop deeper he played our best through ball all night. Barker has to bring consistency into his game if he's going to make it at the top level. A 9/10 one week followed by a couple of 5/10s won't cut it I'm afraid. It was my first real look at Aleix Garcia and after reading some good reviews on here I was a little underwhelmed, especially when he was in a deeper role in the first half. I thought he could have done better tracking their scorer and his long passing was off beam, he improved when he moved further forward in the 2nd half and did get into good positions, hopefully just a bit of an off day for him.
