I actually think they have the beginnings of a solid midtable team. Kirchhoff is very good in midfield, cattermole is solid, mvilla is good. Defoe and Borini are a decent pair up front.

Van Aanholt is a loanee but he's very good. They just need to replace the wide men and centre backs.

That'd have been around, what, 7:30-ish? Even if they left shortly after (and it doesn't sound like they intended to!), it'd be somewhere between 2 and 4 tomorrow morning when they'd dock back on Wearside. That's a long day going to and from a football match.

It's become a very general term these days. If a player clears/blocks the ball, and stops it going in, it is generally regarded as being "off the line". Certainly within a few yards of the line (say, in the 6 yard box).
