Should we get rid of "Blue Moon"?

Change it to Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

"I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour, heaven knows I'm miserable now,
I was looking for a team and then I found city, and heaven knows I'm miserable now"

Just crazy enough to work

Supra fell apart like the club's ownership of the pre-1997 crest. Supra performed at the stadium City Square two years ago and they weren't a patch on their older days. Their version of the Marcel's will do for me. No revamps after '99 please... yeah some are okay for promo work and commercials BUT none should be heard in the stadium unless fans beg for them.

Noel, Liam, Black Rivers, Jimi Goodwin, Badly Drawn Boy, Johnny Marr... and more, yet we still can't get a version to stick with.
The Boys In Blue original or FunkY City will have to do.
Funky City ,now we're talking a bit of sense

For the life of me I don't know why more effort was never made to get another verse. Singing the same verse twice before doing a slow death is as unimaginable as one gets.

Five minutes of ear splitting opera to whip the fans into a frenzy so they can sing Madrid, Madrid, Madrid, Madrid, Madrid is fucking woeful, mindless and as plastic as it can get.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This!

Is it "atmosphere" when it is COMPLETELY generated by a Tannoy system set to volume 11???

I was proud of the singing that took place in the heavens where we were. The first 9 minutes were unbelievable, then Vinny went down and it settled down a bit, with the exception of Vinny's song. However, I think it was brilliant again multiple times throughout, especially when we were putting on the pressure. Last 10-15 were brilliant, too. Have to admit, we were sitting just in front of a few of the lads that got the singing going, so I might be a bit biased, because it was right in my ear. Needless to say, bit hoarse now!

Good shout..I'd prefer hey jude as opposed to blue moon...it's more uplifting and traditionally City since the 60s.
I'm with you, mate!!

One of my fondest memories as a lad was being in the warm, smokey upper reaches of the Platt Lane End on a dark and drizzly night listening to Hey Jude reverberating from the Kippax and getting everyone involved.

However, one of the problems we have compared to the Euros is that they have CHANTS, where we have SONGS. The chants can be built by hand clapping and can be timed to be louder and at a more "manly" pitch. Also, some of the songs we sing, including Blue Moon, are not always as easily coordinated across the multiple singing sections at the Etihad, whereas the opposition are all grouped together, both home and away, where they usually have their own entire end, while we are stuck up in the heavens!

Yes get rid, it's shit. All people sing is the first line and repeat so it fades out too quickly. Hey Jude is much better, more evocative and has more potential to be a top anthem for the club. I don't see the relevance of Blue Moon at all. Just because it mentions blue? Might as well sing Blue Suede Shoes.

I never sing it. It's dross.

I think Blue Moon would be much more effective these days if we sang more than the chorus. If we added a verse in or even did the whole song, it would get the whole stadium going as a real anthem. The chorus is short and the song can often die out before it reaches the end which lessens its impact.

Kolorov and Bony start fuck me were a joke
Heaven knows I'm miserable now...

This is the same mentality that delivered the eagle badge. Question: Do we want to carry on with a round thing with a ship on it and three stripes or do we want something fierce and hungry like an eagle or similar bird of prey, something that might terrify the opposition when they lay eyes on it? Answer: We need to move with the times. Go for the eagle! And maybe add a few stars as well!

Bluemoon is what we are. Moonchester and Moonbeam are what we are! Although, I might be persuaded if yer thinkin' of Johnny Cash's God's gonna cut yer down!

Never been gone on BlueMoon as a "club song", just not sure what an alternative would be. The Keystone cops theme, maybe!

"TAXI!"

And something I've often laid in bed, having sleepless nights worrying about; just when did we adopt BlueMoon as "our song" (Simon Bates vibe here!) anyway? When I lived in Manchester and went to home games (mid 70s to early 80s), I don't remember hearing Blue Moon being sang.

It all revolved around that bit of rock landing in Manchester from space and all of a sudden weve got Blue Moon and Moonchester I think

The cheese department would commit mass suicide if we dumped Blue Moon. They have ten years worth of Blue Moon related cheese already in the pipeline. Imagine if they suddenly had to think of something else ?
I miss the all too short lived kill the cheese "movement". I think it should be restarted ASAP, certainly before the clapping hands on the screens become a permanent fixture.

So, just summing up the forum at the moment:

Joe Hart has been fantastic in Europe but his distribution is shit, so get rid.

Caballero isn't up to it. So get rid.

Zaba has been fantastic, but he's now past it, so get rid.

VK is fantastic but he is so injury prone he is now a liability, so get rid.

Sagna, Kolarov, Otamendi, Mangala and Demichelis are all too old or not up to Pep's standard or both, so get rid.

Fernandinho is not up to playing CDM in a Pep team. He may do a job at centre back, otherwise get rid.

Fernando Delph and Navas are not up to Pep's standard, so get rid.

Yaya is a legend but can't be arsed any more and is too old, plus Pep doesn't like him. So get rid.

Silva is a legend but is now too old and injury prone and won't do what Pep wants, so get rid.

Sterling was a waste of money, and hasn't lived up to his potential, nor will he in a Pep squad. So get rid.

Bony is just useless. So get rid.

Sergio is a legend, but is too injury prone and has lost his explosive pace which apparently was his only attribute. So get rid.

Finally, Blue Moon is cheese so get rid.

Kevin De Bruyne and nacho look like they will be playing on their own in a very quiet stadium next year...

Spot on target ..I think bluemoon is the best football song along with ynwa ..not only it's rythm , I think most supporters (like me too) also associate to its lyrics . For me , the two things which signify city are sky blue colour and "blue moon" . Can't be changed .. Clubs who try to ditch their songs to keep up with time end up like arsenal ..their Supporters still unsure what's their best song ..

Blue moon Rising

The day we drop bluemoon is the day we lose our football club. I recognise the older generation knew a time before bluemoon was linked with us but for anybody under the age of 30 bluemoon is one of if not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of City. And that goes for any football fan. It's synonymous with City worldwide. Regardless of it's origins, who we nicked it from whether people like it or think it's dated, It is our song and we should be proud of it. There's not many clubs that have their own song, that when heard is instantly related to that one club, every football club in the country would love to have that and some people want us to get rid of it?
