Well done boss

I remember Mancini's final season. Fans thankful for what he did but happy he was shown the door. Not mincing words much either on his way out.

Much the same here. One day we'll be wishing Pep out too. And the world turns..

Pep is only contracted for three years we think. It may actually be longer who knows.

However, hopefully the board are already planning his replacement. whether his contract is three or six years........Patrick Vierra maybe?

Blistering first year, but a steady decline and poor decisions since. Wish him well but glad he's gone. I can enjoy my summer now.

Nice touch to see him give his club jacket away after Yaya's gentle persuasion.

Even the commentators on my feed mentioned they were sorry to see him go as he conducted himself really well not like some of the other managers.

Time to move on now to the next era.

I think that if you told us three years ago that Pellers was going to come in, win one league title and two League Cups but we'd get to a European semi one season then most would be a bit disappointed.

He made a rod for his own back in a way with the 13/14 season.

There have been doubts about this team, these groups of players that we put together between 2009-2011 maybe have a bit of a soft underbelly and are flat track bullies. Their greatest triumphs such as the 11/12 title have come from disappointing positions and they had to go and pull their finger out to save the day for themselves at the end.

That 13/14 season was the one time that any of our managers actually had this team playing to its potential. They showed us how good they could be when properly motivated which is infuriating when you compare it to the sombre performance in Madrid or even the Arsenal game where we thought that we'd better pull our finger out again.

You never forget your first love so this squad of players will be remembered legendarily for the 11/12 and 13/14 titles but as a talented group of individuals they have failed to achieve what they could have done and possibly what they should have done. We SHOULD have dominated football for a 5 year period there; we had the best squad with the most talented spine and deepest quality in the league. Two league titles, two FA Cups and two League Cups in the last 6 years is absolutely nothing to be sniffed at and represents the most successful period in the history of this club. But I cant shake that feeling that despite this it could have been more. I know that sounds entitled but it's honestly how I feel.

Now we've got perhaps 10 players who will need to be replaced within 2-3 years, we've got a new manager coming in and this feels a bit like the last day of term.

We needed this squad to get us to where we are - full of talent and big names who dragged us through the shit into the top tier of English football and able to challenge the top tier of European football. Now we've started a bit of a different recruitment strategy this year with players like Sterling and KDB who will bring not just talent but enthusiasm and energy. They're the first of the new bunch in my opinion, the first stones in the skyscraper to come.

Neither Pellegrini or Mancini managed to motivate these players for very long despite having extremely contrasting styles. This tells me that when Mancini was shouting and they said they needed an arm around them, they probably didn't. Pellers came in and put an arm round them to great success then all of a sudden performances drop off after one season.

The Guardiola appointment is so hugely important in my opinion not just because he's a world class manager but also because he's the first manager who I think our board will choose in front of a big player if the argument came down to it. I think they've known that they could get Mancini sacked if they wanted and they could get Pellers sacked if they wanted. If they try that with Pep then we'll sell them to Stoke. That's a big culture change for us next season and will hopefully produce some interesting results.

Absolutely spot on and the point you make about Pep being un-sackable by the players has to be accepted by the fans, when he makes unpopular decisions about some players who maybe fans' favourites

Having just got back from the match, I have 'tried' to read the pages since the final whistle. I was expecting to see more 'class' now that the issue is done and 4th is secure.

It is a shame - this season has been let down in so many ways - and a lot of that directly attributable to Manuel. Also though, the attitude and actions of our fans has also been (obviously just my opinion) pretty disappointing. I am not an happy clapper - I am really looking forward to next season under Pep and I have been highly critical of Pellers at times these last 2 seasons.

But after the whistle was blown - was it not a time for CITY fans to show a bit more class? Lots of fans have bee frustrated and made that very clear - but was it necessary tonight.

I was confident that the fans at the game today would show more class and I am glad that was the last memory Pellers will have of the CITY fans.

I thought that we gave him a really good send off - especially as it was supposed to be Swansea's end of season party. So my message to the fans at the match probably logging in during the night is - well done - at least you guys stayed classy.
Can someone get this fucker his enormous blue badge?

What makes you think that? He managed for seven years and never been sacked.

Why would I do that?? I think pep will do well as does pretty much everyone.

I'm confident he will win at least one league title in the next 3 years and probably a cup or two. If he does I'll be happy and consider him a success.

What does success look like to you over the next 3 years?

Don't ask this Karen 7 questions she can't answer. She's good at getting twitter announcements on here though.
Pretty sure she will be the one starting the Pep-out topic.

He should definitely be in consideration.

And by no means do I expect our good fans to want Pep out, perhaps I'm being a touch dramatic. It's fantastic he is coming actually I'm a huge fan.

Just the cycle of things you know. Been a footy fans for a long time. Soon we will question Pep's line-up choices and his rotation strategy, substitutions, feelings on certain players, interviews, etc. Even after he brings us multiple trophies as the others have as well.

Well, maybe not if he bags the Chumps League. Then he'll have carte blanche I reckon.

Came here to post this one message and that's: Thank you Pellers.

Top manager, but most importantly, a top man.

Left a fine legacy here. City thanks you
Thanks and top man i can agree with.....the rest not......too many missed opportunities but thats not the charming mans fault....he was the choice of the owners.....we are now left us with a squad which cannot compete for the premier league without significant recruitment......lets look forward to a future with better football and re-establish the brand of football we had at the start of pellers reign with mancinis team.

I just think that there are times to show your frustrations and vent and then there are times when that is classless.

IMO - if you cannot leave it alone at times when it is classless then you are probably just acting to stroke your own ego by trying to sound ever so 'look at how powerfully I can type'.

I actually think that you make my point for me

And the time to be honest about him is surely on a forum rather than at the game after his last match. You think he comes on here?

And you'd rather be seen as a big blue rather than honest.

Discuss the topic please, not the member.
Very fair point, although some posters seem to get away with posting what they want in insults towards other posters. Mods favorite perhaps? Dunno. Anyway, thank you pellers. Class person who deserves respect :-)

He's gone and we scraped through. It's a shame to see people still queuing up to dish out the insults.

Says more about them than their target, who at least maintained his decency to the end.

I wonder what he'll find as he empties his desk ... old packets of cup a soup, loads of rubber bands, that shit present he got in last year's secret santa?

.... a copy of Football Tactics for Dummies?

A man of dignity, who did his job well, City have always been after Pep over Pellegrini's reign and the Chillian was a long stop-gap, he probably knew it. It can't of been easy for him,
having said that, never feel sorry for a manager - wadded!
I hope the man stays in the Premiership, he's cool and I like him.

Manuel has over the 3 seasons he was here, has won more games then any other manager also scored more goals. Yes each season has got worse while he was here. However this season we have had more injuries and long term at that then any other team so it is not a surprise that we .had a bad season

Although he is not in the bracket of pep n mou , I will still be grateful to him as a city fan . not just for the championships , but also because he sailed us through ffp restriction period and platini anti city campaign without us doing a Chelsea .ya we are in need of a better manager now , but after pep rejected us for bayern , he came in an fitted perfectly .. Gentleman ..be it ffp restrictions or pep announcement , behaved like a gentleman , only focussed on football .maybe we were one season late in firing him, but then that was worth the wait coz we got pep . thanks gaffer for finishing above united again and leaving pep with a team in top four .some things could have been handled better in ur last season but that's OK..gives us a chance to see how pep manages a team which has a few issues to address .

No disputing that Pellegrini is a decent man but that has been one of his problems in the last 18 months. Whether down to his own failings or under instruction from above he allowed some of the "stars" to get away with under-performing too often, encapsulated yesterday in Kun's dreadful showing, more concerned with his Golden Boot than the team's need to secure CL football. I can accept that Mancini was overly abrasive at times but I believe we've gone too far the other way under Pellegrini and hopefully Pep can redress the balance.
