Too many people on here want the Harlem Globe Trotters and a load of shiny new toys. Rags made that mistake signing the likes of Di Maria and Falcao. I remember the Rags holding a sign up with the message "Thank-you Galacticos" at the start of 2014/5 season, but it went nowhere. You can't sign worldly players (or players being touted as such) just for the sake of it or to appease the masses. .. Well you can, but it won't necessarily work.

I'd say the transfer window is all about shiny new toys: it's is the footballing equivalent of christmas but instead of Santa's list we have Txiki's list. Just like some kids are happy playing with the cardboard box, some want an X-box. However, this is not about producing the Harlem Globe Trotters or collecting Galacticos for the prestige of it, it's primarily about getting the best possible players to implement the system(s) that Pep will play; there is also a commercial factor that has to be taken into account.

The five players being suggested may all prove to be wonderful additions if they end up here - some I think are excellent, or likely will be, some I have no idea - but players like Kroos and Pogba would fit into a Pep side and are players who have proved that they can go all the way to a UCL final. Just look at the teams that have won that competition in recent years, they all have "Galacticos" in their line-ups.

The thing to remember about all the speculation on players, be it in the media or possible ITK's, is that none of them has the full picture and even if they have heard something that is from a good source at any particular point, things change, right up to the last minute. I can give an example of that, I knew that City were trying to buy Mido in one window - everyone did - but what was not common knowledge was that Corradi (IIRC) was going the other way, I quietly included a post to that effect on the MEN on deadline day. Of course, Spurs nixed the deal but a few days later the MEN in one story mentioned the swap that would have taken place, which I am sure they did not take from my post. My source was a German footballer, now pundit; someone very much inside MCFC at the time.

Enjoy the speculation but don't get carried away one way or the other until the bell rings on 1 Sept - is my advice.

I'm pretty much sure that peps post it note sent to the Spanish boys is well and truly in full swing and has been since the announcement....euro's have defiantly put the spanner in the works for concluding deals but can defiantly see deals coming out of the blue which will see other clubs take note and show we mean business again

Hope you are right mate!

You don't pull the best in the business and then put limitations on what he can spend. I'm sure he will be sensible and not buy a load of shit players. I think if he wanted Pogba and pogba wanted us then I think it would get done even if that meant going over 100m with fee and image rights.
For what it's worth I'm sure our targets have been planned for a while and they know who they are and that we want them.

So where do you draw the line for Pogba?

£100m
£120m
£150m

I'm sure he wont buy crap players either, but to believe City will spend any amount on players is simply incorrect IMO.

I'm baffled by why anyone would want us to pay literally double what a player is worth. I'd understand if we were talking about 40 million vs 60 million but we're not. It's 60 million vs 110 million. Pogba isn't every going to be worth that fee, and that's before his ludicrous contract demands.

See I'm with you on that but I believe I'd pay £80m+ for pogba but I'd be annoyed if we spent more that £20m on Stones. It's just opinions isn't it

It is about opinions, but I get the feeling that a lot of people on here (not you I hasten to add) think their opinion is more important than the clubs when it comes to a players' valuation. If the club buy Pogba i'll be delighted. If they buy Stones I'll be delighted. If they pass on either because of the fee I'll respect that decision too.

We've already done that last season with pogba so if we go back in then I'm sure it's because we are going "balls deep" as Tomie put it (I think) were certainly not going to get him any cheaper than last time around.

I'm not saying Pellers couldn't have done better, but to claim something that cannot be proven as being :fact: is nebulous

OK, add in "in my opinion (and the opinion of just about anyone who watched the pathetic displays, excuses before a ball was kicked and dismal substitutions)", Pep would have walked the league last season with our squad

Couldn't agree more, we have always relied on individual brilliance instead of teamwork and that's why we've never been consistent whether it's domestically or in the Champions League.

Anything yet?
well i remade this

So Jeremy says, what type of fuxking name in Jeremy, btw?, says we are only in for Laporte, Stones, Sane and Gundogan.

Amazing stuff, truly. Might even have read that on here somewhere.

Jeremy then states Joe is staying and the only difference to his info is that we have no interest in Pogba or Kroos.

Someone better tell Khaldoon, considering those are the names he briefed in April!!

I know it's half term, but was there any need this person needed to make anything personal by citing me in his crystal ball.

I know info leaks in a variety of ways, even today, I have heard Andre Gomes' name mentioned in conversation (although United want him) so will ask people like Jeremy and Anonymous to just do their own thing.
