I agree absolutely. All I'm saying is that individual quality is just as crucial if not more and it's on that premise I'm suggesting we do everything possible to poach Europe's best players

A good team will always beat a good bunch of individuals. It's all about getting the blend and balance right, not necessarily having the best players available.

Prime example with us; the Aguero and Tevez partnership was mouthwatering on paper but 90% of the time they made similar runs, got in each others way and offered us fuck all variety. Negredo is nowhere near Tevez in terms of individual ability but the partnership just worked, Aguero and Negredo brought the best out of each other consistently.

.

This is only my opinion but I think Pep could have "covered up" our weaknesses last season but we can/will only get better for the long term with younger, quicker, more hungry players in the squad....The current team is on the turn around....Yaya, Fernando, Kolarov, Zab, Mangala, Sagna, Bony, Navas, are all players that we could/need to upgrade because of decline, age, talent, or not a system fit.........Yes, Pep might have made them look better than what they really are last season by putting in place a better system but you cant truely "fix" all these areas by system alone.....you need to upgrade the squad....Pep might have won us a few more games last season but this squad is getting old and slow and a different system alone, in my opinion, would not have won us the prem last year.....Pep's system can cover up one area of weakness but no manager is going to cover up a slow, old midfield, LB/RB's that cant run and CB's that are "mistakes ready to happen"......

We're definitely on the point of a squad revamp, but we can't afford, either financially or in a football sense, to change everything.

The central defence would be better with some protection and that will come, although I expect at least one new face plus possibly Denayer in those areas next season. I expect Sagna to stay and maybe even Zaba if he looks fit again, to blend in with a younger fullback.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Navas is in the squad - yes, he has his limitations, but he works hard and his pace would be an asset in a quicker side. I've never understood his reluctance to take players on, but watching Sterling, I began to suspect it was Pellegrini. Sterling has now made the comments about Hodgson and it being good to have a coach making him go forwards, which sounded like a bit of frustration.

If a Pogba becomes available at a realistic price, then obviously you go for it, but I wouldn't be upset with Gundogan, Laporte a left back and a striker to replace Bony, unless Pep thinks he could play to his strengths.

I'd argue that a good team will not always beat a good bunch of individuals. I'm assuming that your narrative 'good bunch
of individuals' are on the average more talented than the 'good team'. It's football so it's never going to be 1+1=2. If you had said, a good team can upset a talented bunch of individuals, we'd be in agreement. Let's say the two attributes are very key and so we should never downplay any in favour of the other.

The guy on reddit. Absolute rubbish.
Thanks, I agree. 'Reddit' probably means 'read it on Bluemoon'. If all Tolmie's predictions don't come off, at least they are giving us some hope during the quiet months. I would really like a De Bruyne type of transfer saga, to keep me occupied during my holidays at the end of August.

Where would Aubameyang play? I mean Aguero is nailed on starter, De Bruyne works best behind Kun, So would that mean he'd be shunted onto the wings? Would he play left-wing and Sterling play on the right wing? We have been crying out for a quality Right-Winger for a while now; I love Navas and his work-rate but he is one dimensional.

Navas will be off I think.

I think so too, I like the lad but he's just not really an intelligent enough or multi-threat player. So do you think it will be Sterling on the right and Aub on the left or Aub on the right?

Not a fucking clue. Cheers. Think sterling needs some loving and to be told to go for it and just attack. Never really seen this aub either.

have you heard anything new on Toni Kroos? @tolmie's hairdo, Ric said he thinks that he's staying put.

Ah, fuck it, I'm going to join in the fun :-)

I heard there was a firm offer on the table for Kroos*.However, from what Ric says (and other things in the media) it does appear as though he doesn't want to move.

*Disclaimer - could be bollocks.

He'll be our version of Thierry Henry.

You beat me too it mate!;) playing style is almost the same.....I think we only go for Sane as a plan B, if we miss on this guy.....Great striker and winger so has system flexibility....would make us better at two positions....and because of that flexibility, we can have him and Aguero on the field at the same time! ; )
