Toni Kroos

Have Real given any indication that they're not happy with him or intend to rotate him with someone else?
Has Kroos himself expressed a desire to leave?
I've said many times that the only chance we'd have of signing players from Barcelona, Real or BM would be if either of the above apply. Those 3 clubs are out on their own.
We can target and get the best of the players from the next level down regarding stature.

So there is no interest from us in Kroos and obviously none in Pogba. Jack Wilshere is on the cards though, this sucks really.

What?

The latest article from MEN says otherwise (nevermind the other sources) :

Kroos has always been Pep's #1 choice, but IMO Real need to make a run at Pogba to consider pawning him

Just listened to the City Watch's new podcast episode. Simon Mullock just kinda confirmed it.

He didn't. He did say City were out on Pogba though.

He might be a great admirer of Kroos, but that doesn't change the fact that Kroos has no reason to leave Madrid and Madrid have no reason to sell him. And strong rumors regarding Jack Wilshere just kinda deviates the situation further.

How does Wilshere push out Kroos? Wilshere is only rumoured because City potentially need more English players.

And Madrid do have a reason to sell - financing Paul Pogba. If they make a run at him then they need to get 100+ million from somewhere.

I think you just want to gripe about Wilshere, as you've done in other threads, and ignore the interest in Kroos, Sane, Aubameyang, Aymeric and others.

On this thread about 5 days ago mate.

And he later said that the deal might not be dead.

FWIW, I've been told we have actually placed a bid on the table for Kroos. Initially he wasn't that interested (or, more to the point, he didn't want to leave Madrid). However, it may just be that Madrid are willing to let him leave and if that's the case, maybe if he doesn't feel wanted by them, then he may consider a move?

*Disclaimer - I am absolutely NOT in the know. Just something I heard that I'm passing on in good faith*

Haha, are you for real mate. I just reflected what I heard from an actual journalist as it is. Yes I am annoyed that we are linked with Wilshere and that's my opinion about it.

As far as funding for Pogba goes, there's really no news about Kroos being sacrificed for the cause. If there has been one, then you would've seen me being positive about this one. Another reason why I believe this wouldn't go through is the fact that there are other midfielders in the Real side that would actually make sense for them to part ways with (James, Isco, Kovacic)
Also, I believe Real have other important areas to care off than midfield, at the moment.

And last, If you haven't seen already, I have been really positive about other interests as well. Go check out other threads, Sane, Laporte, Aubameyang etc.

I think Ric did say something like that at one time, but later changed his mind and posted it may not be dead.

Ha, I didn't "change my mind", as you put it. These things change fairly quickly it seems. On the subject of which, the latest prognosis doesn't sound great.

I agree...if you listen to CityWatch podcast....Simon Mullock seem to think Kroos AND Pogba are no longer options......he even went on to say he's been told "nothing is imminent" on signings....not sure how well connected he is but spoke as if that came from direct source at City...

Ah damn he was the one I really wanted this summer :(

It did seem a bit unrealistic to prise Kroos from the new European Champions where, under Zidane, he seems more settled. If true that Kroos is unlikely to move and we're also giving up on Pogba then we seem a bit light in midfield and really do need a top world class CM (other than Gundogan). Perhaps we need to move on to players like Veratti, Pjanic and Koke although they may be just as hard to prise away.

It's that thought of him alongside Gundagon for me, Kroos is a robot and will be the perfect partner. Them 2 in the centre would be solid

There's a reason why Casemiro has to play for Real Madrid, to protect Kroos' lack of mobility. We've been there, done that and got the t-shirt with Yaya. In a defensively minded team which Real Madrid certainly were this year it works, in a high pressing attacking team which we aspire to be it certainly doesn't.
