John Stones

It's not done.

No Everton player who is away at the Euros has been involved in any form of negotiations.

Whilst not saying this is done, or isn't, don't think that players being at the Euros would stop deals, although it would stop the medical and in most cases, an announcement.

A number of clubs have been after Stones for a while. If he'd made his mind up before the Euros, his agent could agree the package whilst the clubs sort out the fee and then sign whenever he's back. If he has offers on the table to consider, then yes, it will take a while after the Euros.

If we sign stones it will be interesting to see if he actually starts when everyone is fully fit. I know it's a squad game but you don't want to be constantly messing your centre halves too much. Can imagine the media onslaught when we've got 100 million worth of English talent on the bench (Sterling, Stones and Delph) Unless he plans to play with 3 centre halves

OK Mr Kenwright.

Leave it out.

No negotiations have happened with the player. Contact has been made with Everton, club(s) have been told to wait until after the Euros are over.

No mate absolutely no negotiations have taken place at any point.....including when he dined with our chairman and CEO and then watched the champions league game with Real Madrid and there was absolutely no communication when England played at the etihad ;-)

Heard nothing about this "dining", or anything else you've mentioned. Stones has not been negotiating with City yet.

You're being extremely naïve if you honestly think City and Stones' agent have had no discussions whatsoever about him coming to our club. At the very least we'll have been informed that he's interested in joining (if he wasn't we'd have distanced ourselves from the whole thing a long time ago), more likely we've discussed financial terms as well, plus we'll have explained where Guardiola sees him in his plans etc. We won't have agreed a fee with Everton, but we'll have been given an indication that selling Stones is something they'd consider for the right price.

It's equally naïve of you to say "money is no issue to us now". FFP means having an extremely wealthy owner can only help so much, he can spend on infrastructure and things like that but you still need to spend what your earn and are seriously limited in what he can invest in the side. If you're expecting him to be financing a huge spending spree or throwing £100,000+ wages at your squad then you're likely to be disappointed. Everton's chances of challenging near the top of the Premier League will be hampered as long as you're hamstrung by an antiquated stadium which is simply completely unsuited to modern football and the revenue making ability that is required by it.

Will Stones join City? I simply don't know. But to suggest there's been no negotiating just won't be accurate.

Stones or his agent?

If Everton replied to us with a not for sale at any fee I would say the Everton fan might have a point, but give us a call after the euros sounds like a green light to me.

The fact that Everton voted for PL FFP which limits the amount a wage bill can increase (10%?) each season will also limit ambition even more so coming from a low base

I just think for that price he should be a guranteed started no questions asked! Not someone who can't get a look in

Don't confuse England starting places, with what someone is supposedly worth!
Stones pisses on Smalling and Cahill. He is paying the price for being poorly managed/coached at Everton last season. Sure he made mistakes too, that can't be denied, but the lad is class in my opinion.

It's very telling when you have arguably 2 of the best managers in world football in Pep and Mourinho, who both have completely differing styles and ideas on how a team should set-up, yet both of these really want Stones.
For me the only test Stones has to pass is the mentality test. An English signing for a huge fee always attracts attention and its how he copes withy it all, he'll make mistakes, like every player, but if he thought he was under the spotlight this season just gone, just wait til he signs for us for £40mil +.
For what it's worth, with his talent playing under Pep, I think he'll blow everyone away.

I have no knowledge of whether he dined or not but both he & Barkley were sat in a box behind us in 201.
